My sense is that I can chuck the same map booklet with an '85 or '92 print and no one could tell the difference..  but are there actually any discernable printing differences regarding the map book?

Everything I've read suggests that the map booklets are in all ways identical, but I have not seen this addressed specifically. You would think that, over an 8-year period with quite a few different print runs, something must have changed.. if only slight differences in size or font.

I would probably think there is a difference in paper quality.  This is very noticeable in maps from boxed sets.

not sure the average punter would mind either way, so long as its complete.

its only going to be a collector who would maybe pick up on it.

Good point Al,

If you are selling a complete copy in poor condition I don't think anyone would care.  If you are selling on NM in shrink then you might have a problem.

I wasn't necessarily inquiring about the ethics of it all. I used the notion simply to illustrate that many wouldn't notice any difference and thus begs the question: is there any difference?

Thus far it looks like only the paper quality might different (and if so, is there a way to gauge the difference by year?), but I'd welcome any other observations.

This is one of those things were we don't have a lot of info.  Even with the main book itself, are there any differences? spelling corrections etc.

I seem to remember somebody saying there were, but that might have been GDQ1-7.  I don't have sufficient copies to do a comparison.

Dont remind me of Temple of Elemental Evil boxed sets!
I had a mint unused copy hidden away with other D&D stuff in my folks
attic and my 42 year old drunken (still living at home with mummy and daddie) brother decided to throw it all out?
