One thing to consider though that would make a visit much more difficult is if he has a PO Box.  :)
Then I would tell him that for this much money I MUST have a real address for the higher safety margin of his actually getting the funds and for someone to sign for the delivery (I would do the signature receipt) otherwise I will take the bad feedback and move on.

Guys, he takes paypal.  You are completely covered.  Just use paypal charged onto your credit card and not to your balance, if the guy is scamming you, you bypass paypal and simply cancel the transaction on your card.  No worries.

Yup, I had thought of that as well. Thanks.

Still I would not yet risk any larger sum (More than my current gambling bid) until I know more and get some pictures that are better than looking at postage stamps from a mile off.

So, which one of us is it?  Mr. Chunks says he lives in Lawrence, Kansas, which is coincidentally where Grodog/Allan Grohe used to live:
viewtopic.php?t=8

Of course, Lawrence is large (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence,_Kansas) and if I  were buying those clothes, I'd get a PO box a few counties away. And definitely not in the same town as my parents.

More funny things about the auction: category:          Antiques > Books, Manuscripts > European and then another category: Sports .
The image is deliberately small, as the white space is included: http://i16.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/8a/3b/ada3_1.JPG
and there's a 2nd, smaller image which he considered:
http://i16.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/8a/3b/ada3_2.JPG
And I've learned many new words in this auction: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bosy,
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nancy, etc.

So, bid away - but remember that Paypal will only protect $200 of your bid.  ;-)

Ah, I remember that April Fool's day prank. Stephen did a great job.

As Killjoy is fond of saying, "Let the credit card company sort it out".  I'd bypass paypal entirely, just go straight to the credit card company and cancel the transaction.  Just make sure you pay off the card and not a balance you have in your paypal account.  Paypal may send you a nasty note but there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.

Hi,

and I wonder why there appears to be a pair of jeans on the settee next to the box.

Some reference to "pants" perhaps? As in a pun of "its pants"?

Cheers,
Malcolm

Yes but you have to say Muppet with a British accent.  Sounds much better that way  :D

Hey BC,

Maybe these past items are part of the joke, since he is selling a Woody  Grained boxed set, what better to have as part of your history than a "BUSTLESS CROTCHLESS SEAMLESS FISHNET CATSUIT B'STOCKING"

AN IDEA   Does anyone here have a non-acrimonious relationship w/ Coug/LPF? If so, please email him a link to this auction and let him bid this up . . . poetic justice anyone?

"Okay, we turn the corner and see a Purple 'WHAT' !?!" . . (the DM rolls a 20 or so he says) . . It all went black right after that.

What's a "potato wedger"?  And why bother to pay e-bay the
extra fees for a starting price and a 10 day listing?  ;-)

Well, this confirms one of two things and I am not sure which.

Its either:

A) This whole thing was hoax from the beginning and the seller finally decided to end it.

or

B) Someone, whoever it is, is not only into to taking huge gambles, but also is willing to deal with anyone no matter how biggotted and how shady a person is.

If you asked me this same question 2 years ago, I would have been been hard pressed to believe that it was anything other that option A, however since its not 2 years ago, I think that I would be hard pressed to believe that it was anything other than option B.
