It's gotten so bad, that I will no longer tune in for any major network serial drama that doesn't have a full season commitment of episodes.  This season saw Vanished, Kidnapped, Daybreak and Drive cancelled halfway through the season. all having cliffhanger plots and all shows I had faithfully watched.  The first three were eventually shown on the internet so I did get to at least see the result of the plotlines (Kidnapped and Daybreak were quite good; actually better than about 90% of the crap on TV); Drive was never even extended past the first five episodes they did shoot; it was cancelled after three shows.  This is one of the reasons I never watched Jericho; I was afraid of getting into yet another serial drama that wouldn't see the end of the season. I'm glad the fans could get something going there, but the past has shown that campaigns like this rarely extend the show past one season (or in this case, a few episodes).

BTW, the next season is already being looked forward to as one of the worst ever for TV viewers....based on the shows greenlighted for the fall, most critics are saying it's all limp, unexciting, unambitious crap that has no  future.   What a sorry state of affairs for TV land.

Whoever came up with the idea of flipping viewers the bird by having top-rated shows take a hiatus needs to be fired.

Dramatic stories are like D&D campaigns...you have to play every week or the campaign loses momentum and everyone forgets the storyline.

Possibly, just possibly, the networks will think a bit harder about this tactic.

As for Jericho, congratulations to the fans.

I only watched the opening episode long enough to see....stock characters (right off the TV bargain rack) placed in a survivor setting slightly different from Lost.  It reminded me a lot of the Comedy Channel's raunchy show, Drawn Together, in which cartoon charcters from different genres must live in the same house (like MTV's Real World).  There were crime drama characters, teen angst characters, sitcom characters...all jumbled into the town of Jericho...sort of like Malcolm in the Middle gone horribly wrong.

Does anyone remember the name of the short-lived sitcom from the 80's, where a small group of characters had survived a nuclear holocaust and had to live together on an isolated farm?  It was sort of like Z is for Zacharia meets Gilligan's Island.  They had a working record player but the only record to survive the war was a single copy of Ballad of the Green Berets.  What was the series called...anyone?

I think the creators/writers/producers of Lost finally Got It.  The next three seasons will only be 16 episodes long, shown in the spring, with no breaks.  You would have thought with the past success of formats like "24" more shows would have adopted this. Hopefully more shows will take this direction.

I believe that's the one.

Definitely a product of the 80's.  I believe it was cancelled after a single episode aired.

Click on the row below the one you want to fix.  Then click on "Window" and then "Freeze Panes".

Did they seriously not even spell the word right? For their own show?

I mean, it's not the Queen's English or anything, but I think we'd all agree that "whoops" definitely has an "h."

This is interesting on two levels:

eBay announces strict rules on Apple iPhone sales

1. eBay is about 10 weeks too late to the dance here. There's been fake iPhone listings on their site every day — I've personally reported about a dozen.

2. Check out those rules! I can't remember eBay ever specifying anything like that before.

Heh, triply interesting since you read it! :) You're supposed to use your script-bot to make sure such things don't happen again, damnit. Can't yours click little EULA boxes? :)

I have bought Martin's last book in french (Song of Fire and Ice serie). There is a note on the book, and some buzz on the web...:

HBO has acquired the rights to turn George R.R. Martin's series "A Song of Fire & Ice" into a dramatic series !

"Fire" will shoot in Europe or New Zealand.
It seems that G.R.R Martin, a former TV writer, will work on the script.

One book, one season !  :D

I really think that this is a great story. And I really think that ROME, by HBO, is one of the most exciting series I have ever seen.

:D

Yep. Actually, you didn't even have to be signed-up. Some people signed up the next morning at the Con.

Thought I would throw this out there...

If anyone has the opportunity to go see The Police in concert during their tour...don't hesitate to get tickets.  I went to the first Dallas show last night and it was well worth the twenty-three year wait.  They didnt play any of Sting's solo stuff and it was just the three of them which is exactly what I was hoping for.

If anything Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland are better musicians now that they were back in the 80's.  And Sting...well Sting is the same as he ever was.

Three encores...pretty damn awesome.  :cyclopsani:

We're gonna go see them in Cleveland. Unfortunately, they're playing the same night as Ratdog and Keller Williams, two artists I really enjoy. I was hoping the Police might do an Oysterhead song (that the trio w/ Stewart Copeland, Trey Anastasio of Phish and Les Claypool of Primus), but so far it's not looking like it. I'm also planning on recording it. There have been some recordings filtering down the BitTorrent pipeline from the tour recently.
