You are definitely qualified to go on my list... I will make a category just for you

Al will never reach 6000 posts - he's slowed right down 8O  - only 6.95% of total forum posts and 6.84 posts a day in a liitle over 2 years!!!

Al - we all know you have better things to do

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

Don't doubt the power of the Al.

He may be focusing his energies right now on his next Sahara trip but once he is back that average will shoot up to around to maybe  100 per day

trying to figure out how i can jog and hold a small hand-hald at the same time and post msgs....

i asked the organisers, that in the evening, when we can send 1 e-mail on the satellite uplink (oh arent they generous), can i pop onto a forum and they uh said no :(

i think at 6000 i might retire my killjoy32 and reincarnate into a killjoy(whatever my age is at the time)... :)

Easy we will setup an email that goes to a distribution list and then gets fed into a thread on the forum just for Al's progress in the SUN!

well my 1 e-mail will be getting sent to the practice manager at my work, who will then be distributing it to ppl i have given her addresses for.... so if you want my msg sending to you (whomever you may be!), just give me a shout and i will add you to the list.

you can of course e-mail direct to me through the organisers - they did this last year, but they havent mentioned it this time yet, so i am not sure how they are going about it....watch this space!

When my stepdaughter was givng birth in Houston a few years ago, I had the pleasure of staying in a hotel not a block away from where AKS used to dance, pre-billionaire hubbie (Houston is the largest american city with no zoning laws, which is why you can find a strip club near a hospital).  What a dump!  There is actually a plaque there on the outside stating it is where AKS used to dance, like that statement would class the place up or something. After seeing what has happened to anyone associated with that skank, I both feel sorry for her five month old daughter's future, and figure that Smith/Marshall clan is more cursed than even the Kennedys....

And speaking of football......

You Euros will be able to see a REAL NFL contest for the first time this season.  The New York Giants play the Miami Dolphins at Wembly stadium October 28th in a game that actually counts in the standings (not those dreary pre-season fiascos we continue to export).  All you UK guys owe it to yourselves to get a taste of actual football...believe me, it's nothing like the crap watered down version you have had to suffer through for years with NFL Europe and pre-season affairs.

True, but there are restrictions on deeds when sales of property are made. You can't lump a Texaco right next to someone's home midstreet, for instance.

Good luck getting tickets though, I read on SI.com that there was about 500,000 seperate ticket requests.  8O

Who would you rather have?  Norv Turner?  Mike Singletary?  Why make a comment like that if you won't at least post your opinion as to why you think hiring Wade Phillips was such a big mistake?  :?

I for one dont see a problem with it at all.  Of all the other candidates he is the best suited to fix the Cowboys defensive woes.  He has experience as a head coach as well...something most of the others do not.  The one factor I dont see him being able to handle is Terrell.  But I dont think anyone can handle that douchebag.  :x

I think he hasn't done a good job with the teams he's coached in the past.  Moreover, there are a few peculiar things he's done.

For instance, with the Bills he benched Flutie (their star quarterback at the time) for the '99 playoffs because Rob Johnson had one good game in the final game of the season (they were resting Flutie). That strikes me as a large managerial mistake.

I'm not aware of all the candidates they interviewed, but I would take the two you mentioned over Phillips.

My preference would be someone like Jim Mora or Mike Martz.

He was the safe choice.  Jerry knew the defensive side of the ball were where all the problems were last year, and he needed a defensive minded coach.  This is a team that was humilitated by the Detroit freakin Lions the last game of the season, who put up their biggest point total of the year in one of only a few games they won.  The defense also spit the bit vs the Eagles and Saints in the preceding weeks. Seeing all the first round draft picks on the defensive side of the ball, plus the fact you have bonafide play makers in Demetrius Ware and Roy Williams that were handcuffed by the game plan (Did you see games where they were ROLLED BACK INTO COVERAGE????  I did, because I remember throwing up when they did so....)  As for the Flutie mistake, well he's had 7 years to hopefully learn from that, and I don't think he's going to bench Romo for some backup dude, he has to know Tony is his bread and butter for however long he is going to be the coach.
That being said, I wish Jerry had gotten a little more experimental with the coach.  Phillips seemed to be the safe pick.  But he's old (60 years), and the emerging trend in the NFL seems to be hot young defensive or offensive coordinators, and that trend seems to be paying dividends for teams like the Saints.  I don't think Mike Martz or Jim Mora would have been the answer. Mora's playoff record is even more abysmal than Phillips (0-6) and he managed to screw up Colts teams with Peyton Manning, Ed James and Marvin Harrison.  His forte seems to be turning around really terrible teams, which the Cowboys arne't. Martz has continually underwhelmed me the last few years....he seems to really flourish as the architect of a particular type of offense, the high scoreing throw the ball all the time, and seems lost without that.  Wasn't too impressed with his work with the Lions either, but then look what he had to work with...
I would have loved to see Ron Rivera or Singletary in here as head coach, I think they were unknowns but could have provided a real spark.

I think our defensive weakness is overplayed. We lost our star defensive end midseason (greg ellis) which coincided pretty closely with the defensive implosion.  We had no pass rush the rest of the season which will kill every team and expose guys like Roy Williams.

Well I for one am breathing a sigh of relief that Jerry didnt pick Norv Turner.  He does not have what it takes to be a good head coach and the only reason he got the chance with the Redskins was from riding on Jimmy Johnson's coattails.

Mike Singletary may someday prove to be a great coach...but not with the Cowboys.  As tough as he is I have a feeling that Jerry would drive him to suicide...and only if Terrell didnt first.

Say what you will but the Cowboys need some work done on defense, specifically the secondary.  Pat Watkins is a liability.  He was a pretty darn good defensive back at Florida St. but he needs to smarten up now that he is in the NFL.  Bobby Carpenter needs seasoning as well and with Phillips I think he will get that.  And Roy Williams, as good as he is, needs to stop ducking his head and closing his eyes when he is about to put a hurt on someone.  He hit just as many of his own teammates as he did the opposition this past year.  :?

I would love to see Dallas trade up a bit and get someone like Laron Landry from LSU to play safety.  Amobi Akoye from Louisville would be a great pickup to bolster the defensive line.  Wonder if they are going to pick up another QB at some point as well?
