I thought this was the football thread?

We need to get back on it here. I'll start: Giants by 3. Like Joe Namath, I'll guarantee it.

Unless they lose ... in which case, I'll use the "edit" function.

I just hope one of the Pats' linebackers dislocates Eli Manning's head or something.  I really dont like that little bastard.

In any case, isn't there a game going on tomorrow?

You have to define media.

Anytime there has been a poll of PRINT media members, they come about pretty strongly Democrat (around 80%). However, you can skew those numbers the other way if you are referring to RADIO media (thus the domination of the airwaves by conservative talk show hosts).  When you talk TELEVISION, results have been mixed.  A lot of it depends on what part of the country you are in, who owns the station, is it local or national, etc. I don't think there would be any arguement a large segment of the national nightly news people are liberal (i.e., I don't think that Katy Couric votes Republican....CERTAINLY Dan Rather didnt!!!!   )  However, I would have to say some of the local news stations are highly conservative in their news coverage...which you would expect, as Texas leans way right for the most part. Of course this also assumes if you vote Democrat you are liberal, etc.

I think some misconceptions occur because actors and the Hollywood types overwhelmingly support Democrats and Liberal condidates...and since they are stars, they get inordinate amounts of time onscreen to promote their ill informed ideas and theories (not all political).  It makes a lot of media look "liberal" when it's really not....it's the Hollywood type that's being reported on.  Also, some huge daily papers (notably the New York and LA Times) and proudly and avowedly liberal in tone, which tends to weight heavily on a lot of minds who track these things...

There's a ball game tomorrow?  Oh, that's right, the Mavs play the Pistons at noon!  Great!

Looks like the Chinese really need to work on their infrastructure a bit:

I wonder just how many Chinese people will perish just because they aren't able to warm their houses or are stuck on an icy road in the middle of freaking nowhere?  I'll bet none of those vehicles have OnStar either.

That's a cop out. If you can't defend a position through an intelligent conversation, don't feign amazement with me.

Interestingly, here is something a Nader supporter came up with last election cycle:

You know, the Texas guys might make fun of my home (and sometimes even make me cry), but you have to admit it's pretty cool to be able to jump in the car, zip down to the closest sportsbook, and place a legal Super Bowl bet just a few minutes before kickoff.

I know that's no big deal for the UK guys (my understanding is you can't swing a dead cat in London without hitting a bookie's**) and maybe even the Aussies, but here in the (hypocritical) U.S., it's still only a legal proposition in the great state of Nevada.

I'm torn whether I'd be losing money, or losing a lot of money, or losing all my money if I had the ability to place a legal bet here at any time.... 8O

Great game (even if the Patriots did not have their perfect season)!

My Canadian cable provider (Rogers) overlaps Canadian advertising so I don't get to see the Superbowl ads.  :x

You really thought so?  I was bored to tears until the last five minutes.  Both offenses were simply god-awful....but New England's offense was just a bit worse than New York's.  If I were Bill Belichick I would be looking to draft a couple offensive linemen for next season to replace whoever he decides to let go or trade.

Even though I hate the Giants I gotta give them some respect.  They were able to get all their ducks in a row and dig deep for what they needed to win it.  Eli Manning is still a turdmuncher though.  :P

Worst commercial:  E*Trade baby.  Someone oughta lose their job over that one.  :?

Yeah, loved the game..not an Offensive shoot out, but a Defense strategy battle.

Can't stand any of the Etrade commercials really, but at least there was a good variety.  I can remember the internet boom and those years, or mostly car commercials other years. Why the hell am I talking about the commercials :?
