About the school shooting in Finland....

MSN today ran the story under "Rare School Shooting in Finland."  As if school shootings were not rare in general in every country, including the US.  They are, actually.  That's why they are news.

I agree with Shula, but his credibility in this case is pretty suspect.

While its obviously not "common" per se here in the US, I think its a lot more frequent than people really realize.  I mean, obviously the one in Finland is on par with the Columbine and VT shootings so it is an exception to the rule and therefore, rightfully gathers more headlines.  That said however, sadly there are also lots of other school shootings that get unreported nationally by the press, specifically ones that happen in inner cities many of which are gang related.  Again, I am not saying that its a common occurance, I just think it just happens a lot more often than people realize, because unless you are in the area that it actually happened you aren't aware of it, as it typically doesn't get picked up nationally by the media unless it's of the mass shooting sort.  I think that's probably why the chose the word "Rare", as shootings of any sort (mass or otherwise) are far less frequent there, than in the US.

Shula is a muttonheaded dinosaur who won a 14-game streak. He's just pissed he won't have an excuse to drink champagne every year.

Anyone who watches NFL games on CBS knows that their sound feed sucks.  You would think that they would just be happy that they won the damn game.

And now the Detroit Lions are running up the score on their opponents.  A sure sign that the world is coming to an end.  :P

Interesting memory that brought back:  Does anyone remember a Detroit-Pittsburgh game on Thanksgiving a few years back, where there was a mixup at the OT coin flip?

Yes, this game was on CBS; I taped the game to watch later on, and heard something interesting:  Remember the referee "thought" he heard Jerome Bettis of the Steelers call "heads" then change his mind and called "Tails" (or the other way around)?  And the referee took heat for "blowing" the coin flip?(The ref took the first thing he heard--"heads".)  Detroit won the game without the Steelers getting the ball back.

Every replay had Bettis call "heads" while the referee said he heard "tails", but there was no sound of anyone saying "tails".
HOWEVER . . . on the original CBS live feed (not replays), someone IS heard clearly saying "heads" just before Bettis called "tails"; but no subsequent replays, recordings, etc. heard this.
Hmmmm. . . . . . .makes one wonder. :ncool:  :eye:

The proof in the pudding was watching all the Steelers walk away excited, then watching them freak out when the ref said Detroit had won the toss. The Steelers called it right, I'm sure.

Pee your pants on purpose and start whining about how much noise your nosehairs are making.  Try to pull them out with needle nose pliers while cursing at them under your breath.  I guarantee they will give you the day off....maybe even a whole month.

http://paizo.com/store/sale/greenRonin&page=all

This is a link to Paizo's sale on hard copies of Green Ronin Publishing books.

There are a lot of items for $2, some for $5 and some of the most expensive hardbacks for $10.

The shipping is cheap...it cost me less for eight books than some Ebay sellers are charging to ship one thin module.

Anybody interested in certain Green Ronin books, or anyone who collects D20 books needs to get over there now.

The sale lasts until December 12, 2007, but at least one item has already sold out.

Some other companies have other items on sale...you can find a link to the sale on the Paizo main page.

Should be a good game...definitely the NFC championship preview.  But even then both teams still have to win more than the other else this tiebreaker won't even matter in the end.  But I think all it will end up deciding is whether the NFC championship game is played up north or in Texas stadium.  And before we hear how unbeatable the Pack are in Lambeau in January I think a now-imprisoned Mike Vick and the Falcons dismantled that aura a few years back....
So I guess I'd have to say as a Cowboys fan I won't be tearing my hair out if they lose, or doing backflips if they win.  Like I said, should be a nice NFC championship preview if all holds steady....for the right to be kicked around by the Pats in the Superbowl.... :(

Favre is 0-8 at Texas Stadium.  As much as I respect Favre....he will soon be 0-9.  :P

Packers versus Cowboys for the right to lose the Super Bowl.  Hmmm.  :?

Not exactly giddy with anticipation here.

THAT was funny. And true. Darth Hoodie has cast his shadow on the NFL.

Yeah but he has broken these types of records by beating KC and Denver this year.

That all you have for trash talk :D

The Pats are the only NFL team I watch nowadays with the express purpose of hoping for a season ending (or career ending, not picky) injury to either Brady or Moss...just to make the rest of the season somewhat interesting for us football lovers.
