Niel O'Donnell...I was trying to remember his name.

O'Donnell did his best.  The Cowboys were just too good.

O'Donnell could have won the game if he had not been asked to do it on his own.  As it was, the Cowboys' defense out-manned the Steelers.

Cowher nearly pulled it off, however.

I felt sorry for him.....then.  Not now.  Not at all.

O'Donnell was actually a serviceable QB. Going into that SB, he had the best TD to INT ratio in the league. As always, the Steelers strength was their running game, so the QB wasn't used as much, so O'Donnell wasn't asked to have 300+yd games and multiple TD. It's kinda sad that he is known for those 2 (actually 3) INT in the SB that year. I was (am) a die-hard Steelers fan and O'Donnell was one of my favorite players during that time.

He had 68 TD to 39 INT as a Steeler, hitting about 58% of his passes. An 81.7 QB rating. Not to shabby...

I agree.  O'Donnell did not deserve to be the scapegoat for what was really a team loss.

OK, I have to retract my Cassel endorsement. He's sat on the bench too long to come in and function well.
Other than that, it's another $50 game for the Frankster!

tell you what though, what an exciting finale to the NE v MIA game. wow miami were really motoring at it there.

apart from that, i really enjoyed the hou v ten game too. amazing comback there by houston and they "almost" paid off. my houston WR got massive points for that game WOOHOO!

sky over here showed the lions v bucs game. was actually a pretty tough match imo. then it was let down as the eagles v bears was next......what a shite game that was. sheesh. frank i agree, that mcnabb is crap dude. he looks really out of shape imo. well done to the bears though toughing it out and pinching it at the end.

just wished they would have shown the texans game. that looked like an absolute show-stealer!

Yeah, my condolences, Al. I was serious, the guy has been a train wreck for a while now. I do hope the Eagles keep him for another couple of years; with him at QB they have zero chance of being competitors.

well i dont have a bloody choice with him as he is one of my "cant get rid of" players, so i am stuck with him.

ah well. at least the rest of my team try and compensate for his ineptitude.

he definately didnt look good in that game. i sat and watched in shock and was like "WTF"....

Really? I wonder if the Eagles view him as a "can't get rid of" player.......
That seems a bit ridiculous. You should be allowed to trade him away if you like! It's not like he's Brady!
Is there an Injured Reserve, Al? Somewhere where you can bench him and get another QB?

Yeah, you can bench him, just not drop him. He is on the "Don't Drop" list (to stem the floe of cheating. Not you, of course, Al. It's a built in thing). But don't give up on McNabb yet. When he is good, he is really good. He just doesn't have the WR. Philly's offense is predicated on the pass (West Coast) and they just can't get anything going. McNabbs a good QB...

Saying that, though, I benched the fuck out of him in my league...

:)

well i have another QB who is injured but is coming up to a bye week so if he is ok after that i will just throw him in. he cant be any worse.

at least the rest of the team is holding up a little!

I would say Asshole Collector might fit well.
What is the break point for Grandstander, Al?

you know, i have no idea. i think it might be 5,000 so you have a ways to go yet my friend :)

i guess foul got fed up of giving titles after 5000 as it didnt change at 6000, though what would you call it? "get-a-life-collector" would go well :)

Hey, any of the UK guys thinking about attending the New York Giants/Miami Dolphins american football game this weekend in London at Wembly stadium???  At 0-6, the Dolphins aren't anything special, and might not win another game all season, but the Giants are cranking along having won five in a row and should put on a show.

http://www.nfllondon2007.com/

Didnt' know Giants star DE Umenyiora was born in London...God, is he going to tear the Dolphins offense line a new one this weekend.....!

Should be fun, this is the first regular season game ever played in Europe (I beileve they have played a regular season game outside the US, in Mexico, at one time) but so sorry you guys couldn't see a decent tilt as you say (with the Dolphins unfortunately going to be the punching dummy in this one).  This will be quite different from both the pre-season games and NFL Europe you might have seen, as it's the real thing.

Also on the subject of football...

Any San Diego Chargers fans here? The wildfires in Southern California are burning up hundreds of homes and causing evacuations. Unfortunately, the stadium is being used to house refugees, so the location of this Sunday's game against the Houston Texans is being seen as up in the air.

One possibility being offered is Texas Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) since they are off this week. Jerry Jones has apparantly offered the site as "neutral" ground instead of playing a "home" game for the Chargers at Houston.  When this was done for the Giants/Saints game years back (making the Saints play a "home" game in New Jersey!) it was roundly, and correctly, criticized as ridiculous.

For me I'm hoping we can get the Chargers/Texans game here in Irving...I would try to attend.  Don't know when I'd ever see the Chargers play in person and I'm a big LT fan (he went to college in Fort Worth, at TCU).  Anyway, has to be a crazy week for the players and coaches, who are running practice in Arizona, and have no idea where or when they will play their game Sunday, if at at (it might be moved to Monday....).

Football related...

First off, I'd like to apologize to all the Euros out there who watched that travesty of a NFL game this Sunday.  I wouldn't blame you if you never watched another minute of NFL football ever again. Just realize that A. No one thought the Dolphins would be the winless wonders halfway through the season (anyone think they are going to be the first and only team of al time to have a unbeaten season, AND a winless season?); and B. No one thought the Midgets would lower their ability to their opponents to such a horrible extent.  Eli Manning looked like Quincy Carter out there..never mind, I don't actually remember Quincy having a game that bad, even win he was playing stoned....maybe Clint Stoerner had a game that bad? Anyone?  Sheesh.  Again, sorry about the high school quality scrum out there this weekend....

And...did anyone watcth the Patriots press conference after the shellacking of the Redskins?   I swear to God it was the most surreal press conference I've ever witnessed.  Mark my words, win every game this season, lose the first game of the playoffs, Bellicheat is retiring at the end of the year.  He was giving these crazy, wacked zen like answers to questions why he's doing what pretty much only a tiny handful of coaches have done in the last 30 years or so, run up the score during a professional football game. He's doing something really, really weird, entering Buddy Ryan terriroty with the wacky play calls (go for it on fourth down when you are up by THIRTY EIGHT POINTS??????  In Field Goal range?  and have your irreplaceable QB do a sneak to get the yardage??????)  I think he's going to go out on top, and leave his team to face the wrath of teams humiliated the next few years...I can picture the Pats, a couple years down the road, when they are maybe rolling along 5-2 at seasons midpoint, and they face one of the teams they ran up the score on to earn a better BCS ranking, or whyever they are doing it.....and a nasty ass late hit on Brady in the pocket that leaves him with a few cracked ribs and gasping for breath, as the OLB towers over him and sneers "Hey, pretty boy, how does that feel?  That was for the 52-7, motherf***er. Quarterback sneak THAT one buddy....."  Meanwhile Bellicheat will be sipping a Pina Colado on a sandy beach somewhere, working on his system to cheat the casino at blackjack...

What if that happens this year? How will Bellicheat answer that? When his start QB (and KEY to their success) gets hurt because he was in there with a 30+ point lead in the 4th quarter? All those damn Pats fans that think its so cool to see the score ran up may think different...
