Regarding the new eBay "Shop Victoriously" television advertisment featuring the Fox Hunt for the Evel Knievel Lunchbox...  Although the "fox hunt" depicted in the ad is a somewhat decent analogy to the eBay bidding experience, I find it deficient in one major way.  At the end of the spot, when the "Ugly Betty"-like gal is shown holding the lunchbox aloft and declaring "Shop Victoriously!", if they wanted to truly recreate what it is like on eBay, they'd have some unkempt 300-pound dude with sweat stains under his arms come swooping in at the very last second and rip the lunchbox away from her, knocking her over face-down in the mud and leaving her sobbing...  Now *THAT* would be a good analogy to the eBay experience!

Just my little chit-chatty OT post for the moment...

How about a red dot appears on her head, a shot is heard, and the back of her headblows out from the sniper's bullet.  The 300 lb slob runs down the hill, rifle in hand, only to be picked off a foot away from the lunchbox.  Let's give the snipers some props.....

I'm too lazy to look myself so perhaps someone can help me out with a simple yes/no answer.

If an ebay auction has a reserve (in the UK this is a minimum of £50) and I bid an amount less than this, can the seller subsequently remove the reserve and hold me to my bid)?

(I ask this cos I sometimes bid £49.99 for a bit of mischief - but I don't want to get burned!!)

ebay sez...

When a seller lowers the reserve price eBay lowers the maximum (proxy) bid. When the maximum bid is lowered:

A bidder must bid again to meet the new reserve price.
When a seller lowers the reserve price, eBay lowers the maximum (proxy) bid 1.00 below the new reserve price.
A bidder must bid again to confirm interest in the item since the high bidder may have bid on another item when that bidder did not initially meet the reserve price.
The high bidder is not bound to purchase the item; the high bidder must either bid again at or above the new reserve price.

So, the short answer is no.

Anyone care to predict the winner of next weekend's Cowboys - Gaytriots game?

I despise both teams, so I'm hoping for some sort of illness to break out at the stadium and have the back-ups play one another while Brady and Romo are both throwing up in the locker rooms. Nothing serious... just a 24 hr stomach virus.

Barring that, the Pats (Gaytriots  :P ) should win pretty big. They just have a better team and a better coach. And trust me, it sickens me to say the Pats will win anything, so that is a totally unbiased answer...

Pats: 34, Cowboys: 21

It depends...  Do the Pats already have all of the Cowboy's game signals on videotape from last year that they can use to cheat-out the win?

Yes they do, as well as those from next year.

No, but the Cowboys have theirs. All the other teams still have their video footage of opposing coaches.

I seriously doubt that will happen Al.  Here is what I foresee:  Tony Romo and Tom Brady will start arguing about who has bagged the hotter model and they will end up getting into a slap fight.  After Tom Brady scratches Tony Romo's face with his 2-day old chin stubble, Romo flies into a rage and stomps Tom's testicles into mush.  As Romo is being escorted off the field he is heard saying "No more bastard kids for you pretty boy."

:D

Only one problem with that scenario, however likely it is to happen:  Brady's balls are usually in Hoody's mouth.
