Hi all,

the missus bought this recently -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1

Has anyone any info on it please? Is it a "proper" TSR release or a bootleg? Are there any more in the series?

Cheers,

malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

The original painting was done by the late Keith Parkinson.

I cannot remember if it was a limited edition poster (signed and numbered), just a small print run, or just many printed.

I did not collect any of his foils so I do not know how many were produced.

Can you post a better picture?

I am curious what the 'seal' is in the upper left hand side of the picture and what is in the middle of the bottom (anotheer 'seal' or piece of treasure)?

I think the seal is the silver anniversary logo.

It's either that or the TSR "letters with dragon" logo.

At that price, I would not worry if it was bootleg.... I figure the frame alone would be worth the cost. And you have a Nice looking print too.

I'm going to guess and say that the foil is not original.  If you look at the sellers other auctions, there are two more that have the same foil but are not TSR prints:

Hiya,

I think the corner logo is the standard TSR dragoney one, not the Silver anniversary one (tho its difficult to tell).

The bottom middle is part of the picture, but there is on the bottom left corner "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" in the old 2nd-edition type block print.

I remember TSR doing the greeting cards in foil, and wondered if it was a same-era "brilliant idea at the time".

Cheers,
Malcolm

It looks like the cover of Beyond Sabre River...or something like that.

The title certainly has "Sabre River" in it.....a D&D product as opposed to an AD&D publication.

Well its the cover painting that was used on Dungeon Magazine Number 1 and it is almost identical to the cover for the D&D module CM3 Sabre River:

So that might explain it.

I was looking at that earlier...they're close but not identical.

Hi.

weird. I asked the seller about the picture, and was told she bought it 8 years ago (thats fine, I would estimate that), from a travelling salesman??

The only ppl we get selling door-to-door round my house sell stuff like tea-towels and cleaning products - not D&D pictures!

Cheers,
malcolm

Bummer.   Why are many of the best least expensive interestingly unusual D&D items sold in the UK?

I like all three of those prints. I would happily hang any or all of them on my gameroom walls.

When I worked at a mall in the late 80's/early 90s, we had travelling gypsys there all the time, and they were continually trying to sell foil pictures like these to the various merchants.

If hexes were put on you, you would always be ready to wargame.  And you could keep your armies up your sleevies.

Ummm . . . what was the original topic?   :D

Or you could have gone with, well that would be one unique Wilderlands..I dare not ask about that valley starting at hex number 2602 in the southern regions. :)
