OK so you have seen this on eBay .... (it used to be soo much fun watching the bidding wars ... I crave the good ol' days )

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Has anyone spoken to the seller?

Seen any higher res photos?

Anyone seen #204 before?

I have sent a message but have yet to hear back.... Something doesn't quite make sense to me.

The description starts with
Purchased at Origins 1979 being sold by partner of original owner

then later in the description states
Either not played or only played once

Wouldn't the partner of the original owner know this.... If I was at Origins in 1979 and played this tourney I would not likely to forget it.  Just like Allan with his Dragon Queen.  *waves* to Allan.

Hey Bombadil you haven't done any nice graphs for us in a while ... maybe you can do one for the LT?

Sure  8)

Quite a jump there between 6 & 7.  Any guesses where this one will end?

So, less than $1200?  Does anyone remember the final price on the last one that went on ebay?

Is eBay trying to promote higher prices by hiding bidders names? People will be more inclined to bid because they can't see suspicious activity, and there will be a big reduction in the reporting of suspicious bidders and shill bidding to eBay. eBay will get higher fees and the buyer is the one that gets f"cked.

I would have guessed higher, but this one has a significant tear noted.  It might go $1500 if people don't care.

The last one I know of was 12 Feb 06 and went for $1,501.93 (Winner harami2000)

One just before that, 8 Feb 06 also went to harami2000 for $1,601.93

I would probably rate both as being in better consition (i.e without a spine rip like this one, although others here may have better records  :D ).  I reckon that he will also snipe again at this one if it looks to go below $1,200

But you never know.  I will be going for it, but don't have the cash I did a year ago - so can't go anywhere near those old prices (what with being a student again).  This will be a really interesting auction  :D  :D

I believe I am #4.   :D

That's right:  I had forgotten David bought two in a row.  Guess that explains in part why we don't see him much anymore either here or on ebay.   :D

I think he had to buy the second one because you couldn't face seeing one go for less just a few days after you bought one (a few months and you stop anguishing about how much you have spent, but a few days is just too close)  :D .

Or, maybe one for gaming with and one for swopping for some old sci-fi novels.  One for roach material and one for a beermat while playing 3.5D&D....

Hey Stephen - didn't you actually run yours (i.e. bravely take it out and game with it, smear it with pizza sauce, spill beer on it etc..)  8O

David won the second for a very distinct reason behind it and it wasn't to use as a place mat for beer and pizza.

Well yes, but I will say that I would never tell under any circumstance.  :)

Could it be someone he didn't like was bidding on it?
