I would have kept this a private matter, but since you felt the need to communicate inaccurate information to a neutral party, and it ended up here, it is now a public issue.   THE END.

I would write more but now I have to post 10000 sales so that I can catch up.   Crap, so much for attending Gen Con.

Guido, I believe I was the first one to mention your name with regards to all of this.  For that, I apologise.

No reason at all to apologize.   In fact, I should thank you for what eventually came to light.   You and Zanzer Tem both are all right in my book.

What really irked me, after I had a chance to think about it, was that Coug was using false and/or contrived info, with my user name in it, to seemingly leverage a mutual withdrawl.    Ha, that sounds almost smart!!

FYI - I just posted an auction for 10,000 paper clips at $.01 each with a by it now for $.02.  Whose in?!?!   I will . . . I must be the winner in the feedback race!!

Dude, where'd you get so many paperclips? Can I have a private auction to buy them, and then threaten to kick ass and then, after being unable to, write a whole script of neat stuff about Xenu?! I'm SO there. Damn, that's why I signed up...

I do believe cougies statistical information is skewd a bit:

Guido has a feedback rating of 14674 and feedbacks left are at:
29873 pos + 274 Negative or Neutral feedbacks = 30147
Members who left a positive: 14740
Members who left a negative: 71
Members with a mutual withdrawl = 1
Total client base = 14812

Cougie has a feedback rating of 7615 and feedbacks left are at:
36964 pos + 444 Negative or Neutral = 37408
Members who left a positive: 7671
Members who left a negative: 60
Members with a mutual withdrawl = 67
Total client base = 7798

To me it looks like guido has nearly twice the client base than the cougie.
The actual statistical feedback ratings are as follows:
Guido 99.5% satisfaction rate
Cougie 98.4% satisfaction rate

So who is the more reputable...hmmm?

Plus, when you consider how many customers he berated into leaving feedback, the comparison becomes even more compelling.

However, I can't help but wonder if his main goal isn't to be the biggest, but to steal the most stuff from the states to the UK.  It is interesting to me to see compatriots side with him lately.  Maybe he views himself as a modern day Robin Hood.  And it may be that approach which has gotten him good with someone inside UK EBay which allows him to get away with so much.  It's speculation, but it's certainly plausible.

However, there's no doubt that he's prideful and arrogant which manifests itself quite often.   It's hard to not notice that as his primary trait.

Ben

nobody is siding with him - where did you get that from?

its freedom of choice for some to deal with him if they so wish (ME included). i listen and appreciate what other folk say all the time, but it is an individuals choice whether to deal with him or not.

i get on ok with him so thats fine with me. but then i like to get on with everyone - thats my way in life. i have a purpose for dealing and thats that. strictly biz. if someone (and i mean anyone) tries to stiff-arm me in doing biz, i will deal with it personally. i dont disagree with what most say, but in my own practice, things have always resolved themselves satisfactorily for me.

i think you will find others take the similar view on the matter (uk folk that is).

i try and stay neutral in the matter, because i want to be.

be careful when you lay down the compatriots blanket please.

I think that you are giving DM Dave far too much credit.  :)  One thing I don't think that a lot of people realize is that Dave has one of the lowest self images of anyone that I have really ever seen before in my life. Dave's feel so poorly about himself inside that he uses Ebay as his way of trying to prove to himself that he is better.  I firmly believe that his own self-worth feelings most of the time rest solely in his falsely inflated feedback scores.  Dave's perceived arrogance is actually not arrogance at all when you look at it, its actually Dave is trying to prove that he is big enough to stand up for himself, even if its online against people he will likely never have to meet face to face.  Another thing Dave does is to over exagerate things to try and make himself look better(most sales EVAR he claims he owns 3 houses, etc.), because he believes that by doing this he will be able deflect the attention away from his own shortcomings that is obviously very afraid that people will see.

Badmike thinks that Dave is some 6'4 450 goon , but upon careful consideration, I think that its quite the contrary.  Dave shows through his behavior someone who has been picked on his entire life, so I would have too believe that if he is overweight that this only became an issue later in life.  I also would be suprised to see Dave be much taller than 5'7" or so and when he was a kid he was quite skinny, which resulted in his being picked on.  His home life was also likely quite poor, as typically kids who have good support at home. even if they are initially victims of bullying are able to overcome it through their support system at home.

Dave fits a psychological profile of someone who has been pretty much been bullied and picked on his entire life and his actions through Ebay where the threat of real consequences of his actions are almost nil support this theory.

I should probably also add that Al's patented "Front door" policy not withstanding, there really isn't anyone out there in this world that if the circumstances merited it, that Dave would not screw over.  And keep in mind that when I say this, I am also refering close friends(if he really has any) and his own family members, no matter their relationship to him.

:)

in my own defence, maybe i am being somewhat selfish here.

i have never had a problem with dave, so personally, i am ok with that. now and then, i am after a few things, so i get them from him if i can get them cheap. so from that perspective, its good for me. i have never had any problems. the one or two times i have had issues, they have always been fairly resolved by dave, so i can only base my opinion on that.

i have however heard many horror stories and i can very much sympathise.

however i will not condemn someone just for the hell of it. its just not in my nature to follow a mob because its going in that *points* direction.

sorry :)

however, i will reiterate something i have said many times before.

if anyone DOES want to deal with dave, i am quite happy to help out and be something of a middleman, whether the stuff is going TO dave or coming FROM dave.

i am known well enough by dave and everyone here, so its an option should anyone ever wish to use it.

Al

on a further note, i will say this.

i HATE anyone who whines about feedback. feedback is one of the most manipulated systems i have ever seen, so therefore i take very little notice of it.

anyone with any decent brain-cells, will read from feedback what they want to see, whether that person has 10 feedback or 50,000 feedback.

for me, what counts in the end, is the quality and efficiency of service. that matters more than how many feedbacks have been left.

my 2nd thing i take note of is the feedback that the user LEAVES for others and their replies to something negative that has been left for them. from that, you can tell a lot about someone and i will leave it at that.

i have dealt with mike, paul, paul, bri and many others and they have been exceptional services and in the same vein, if they have something i want, i would never hesitate to utilise their services again and again.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was a shrimpy little guy...those are always the guys picking fights, getting into people's face, constantly talking about their sexual conquests, etc.  Lots of over compensation going on there, and obviously Cougie is over compensating out the wahoo (pleading demands for feedback, lying about being a Titanium Powerseller, lying about being the largest D&D seller in the world, finding pleasure in not paying for lots but stealing them instead by claiming they didn't arrive, etc).  I actually have no doubt, hell I'm 100% certain, he checks out this forum, and this thread (with his name on it!!!), every single day, and finds a perverse sense of pride that we are talking about him.
I've thought many times about ignoring his antics and hoping he would just fade away, but thinking about how many would-be buyers who were warned about Coug's antics thanking us at the forum for alerting them keeps me posting.  Otherwise even more people getting scammed and ripped off, which is bad for the hobby and in a roundabout way for my business (someone burned by Coug may decide to stop buying gaming items online).
So yeh, I can see the scrawny Coug, the bullied and picked on and pathetic Coug that probably is the true picture, but it's so much funnier simply to picture him as an overweight, booger eating, cola swilling, fast food burger face stuffing, disgusting man child.  To picture the true pathetic Coug is something I'd rather not do, because I don't want to humanize this cancer any more than necessary, lest I start to feel pity for him.
I often wonder if when reading here he pauses at the mentions of Acaeum member meetings, fantasy football leagues, Gen Con get togethers, trading items between membets, basically the general fellowship exhibited here most of the time, and wishes he could be a part of it.  I don't feel sorry for him in this instance because he's bascially had a decade to not be an idiot and has chosen the other path.  Then again, he could read these items and sneer at our provincialism and naivity, thinking that everyone knows that everyone else is out for number one and our supposed "friendship" is just a lie.  Who knows.
Hey Coug, while at Gencon with some good friends having a blast I'm going to make a toast to you, I hope it makes you realize what a waste you've made of your opportunities.

Mike B.

I second that.  While I do look at negative feedback to see what type of problems have been reported with a given seller, I largely do it to see how the seller responds to it.  If every single negative is essentially the same reasoning, with plenty of vitriol/caps/ranting (and let's not forget multiple exclamation marks), then I generally stay away.  A handful of bad buyers, I can understand -- but when every single negative/neutral is because the buyer in question is a terrible ebayer, &c., &c., then, well, I start thinking things like this.

I apologize that my statement read like a blanket statement of all UK citizens.  I do not feel that or believe that.  I have dozens of transactions with the UK folk with no difficulties (unlike another European country).  That sentence refers to megnewil's recent comment which could be interpreted as siding with Coug.  Other than that, I was thinking back to danteisevil's statements but as I looked back on those responses, it's very possible he/she/it was either not from the UK or was Coug himself(I believe bclarkie makes a case for that on page 15).  Furthermore, as I look at Coug's feedback, my impression(not that I've done a statistical analysis) is that the majority of his negative feedback comes from US buyers, and his most glowing positive feedback comes from UK buyers.

Like you, I am not interested in the mob mentality, and I try to think outside the box. I have had one transaction with Dave, and I will never deal with him again.  I have had my own experience, and it's only natural that it colors my analysis.

However, I clearly stated that my comments were speculation.  No blanket intended even though I mis-stated otherwise.  I apologize for the miscommunication.  My bad.
