SO:

1)  I sent an Ebay message to a seller dealing with Dave Whitfield.  The seller's auction says that he will only deal with buyers with a certain percentage of positive feedback.

2)  I say only something like, "Do you only check feeback percentages or do you actually read a buyer's feedback?"

3)  The seller sends me another message asking why and who I am talking about.

4)  I reply something like, "Just FYI."

5)  THEN I see down my email list...sent before the seller contacted me....an email from EbayUK saying that I have interfered in an Ebay auction and I could get banned or otherwise punished for it.

6)  I reply that I have not interfered but I will not contact the seller again.

7)  The seller then sends me ANOTHER email asking, "Who are you talking about?  You must mean the guy who won, but what is the deal with him?"

8)  EbayUK sends me an email thanking me for my response and that auction interference is a serious matter.

9)  I reply to Ebay that the seller has contacted me AGAIN.  And, "As this is the guy who obviously reported me I can only assume that he is trying to get me to say something specific about an Ebay member so he can trap me."

10)  EbayUK sends me the following answer:

Hello Mark,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the email you received from
"tatesgaming" who is asking for information. I understand you're
concerned about the safety of your detail

I appreciate that you reported this to us. We don't tolerate such
activity that I'd like to take the appropriate action. I'll investigate
right away, however to make it possible for me to do so, I need you to
reply to this email pasting the contents and "header" of the email into
your reply. Please don't send the email as an attachment. (To give us
added protection against computer viruses, we never open attachments.)

Please send the contents and "header" even if the email is in My
Messages. To protect your privacy, we can't view the emails in the My
Messages section of My eBay, so I can't check the email contents and
header myself.

What is a "header"?

Every email has a hidden header which gives information about the email
sender and recipient and the email's journey to its destination. The
header can tell us whether the email was actually sent from the address
in the "from" line.

How to find the header

The way to do this differs between email programs and systems. Since
you're using "wavecable" program, its Help pages will tell you how to
find an email's header. Alternatively, ask your administrator or try
your email program's technical support.

What does a header look like?

Here's a sample header to give you an idea of what you're looking for:

the email.

Mar, we know your time is valuable, so thank you in advance for sending
this information to us.

Kind regards,

Alison Long

Does sharing the header information make it easier to access other information someone usually doesn't want to give away? This whole header thing seems strange.

This may seem silly or maybe someone has suggested this before, but is it possible that Britty Kitty works for Ebay UK?  It sure would explain this set of circumstances. :?:   My guess is no, but I can't help but wonder.

And with a name like Alison, it would explain the corset thingy!

Your mail program may have an option to display "mail headers" or "advanced information" or something that implies you will be seeing the full e-mail message.  Follow the suggestion from the eBay rep; poke around your e-mail client or Google for help with your e-mail program.

If you turn the headers option on, then you will see information similar to the sample header within the eBay rep's message.  The e-mail header tells where the e-mail originated and how it got to you.  Headers can be forged, but you can't know unless you display it first.

The eBay rep says that "To protect your privacy, we can't view the emails in the My Messages section of My eBay, so I can't check the email contents and header myself", which is unfortunate.

In the feedback recieved and responded to as below:

VGC? Several Writings and Hightlighting not mentioned in your description! Buyer: gnoun2017 ( 78)  Dec-11-07 04:52

Reply by cougarrinard (Dec-11-07 07:07):

as stated do not have time to check each page of 5000+ auctions, refund if email

Where is it stated, in the auction or his about me page,  that he does not have time to check every page of 5000+ auctions?

too much honesty in cougar today. well one hair on his tail at least

"as stated do not have time to check each page of 5000+ auctions, refund if email"

not uncommon even with 100% rated bulk vendors sell as good grade by default + expect buyer to complain and pay return ship if not to scratch. minus fees as well for cougar. if seller does not complain "no problem"

Anyone taking up for Cougar has to read the below feedback...it is CLASSIC COUGIE:

VGC? Monsters pages has been cut (No indication on your description) Buyer: gnoun2017 ( 78)  Dec-11-07 06:28
Reply by cougarrinard (Dec-11-07 07:06):
it stated complete, not uncut, WHY no contact B4 -FB? AVOID block this FB wreckr

Let me get this straight...the monster pages (about 10 or so IIRC) had been cut out, basically ruining the book...but because they were "included" Coug listed the item as complete, while forgetting to mention the item had been defaced with a pair of sissors?  Unbelievable.
This is why he will always be a 2nd tier, lower rung ebay schlockmeister rather than a respected seller of goods.  Thing about it, has ANYONE, ANYWHERE, EVER recomended Coug as a good seller of used RPG stuff?

Yeah, but I hated the guy I recommended him to. ;)

Kidding. Kidding. I wouldn't recommend the kitty to anyone.  Speaking of which... Hiya, Cougie! Image

That's just unspeakable.

And it looks like that poor guy got "VGC'd" all over the place: scotch tape, damaged spines, etc.

There's also some fun irony here, though. If Diamond Dave wasn't one of the absolute stupidest people on this planet — and I mean that literally: the man is basically functionally retarded — he would realize that he's just managed to completely alienate yet another potential repeat customer.

So instead of making things right and keeping this guy's business for years, he rips him off and has to get the last word in. So, bye-bye forever, Mr. Customer! And all of Mr. Customer's friends, too, who he is sure to tell about his wonderful experience with Portsmouth Dave.

What a fine businessman you are, DM Dave! Congratulations on losing money every single day that you decide to remain on eBay.
