What's the best way to authenticate signatures?

What is considered acceptable proof of signed copies.. anything short of photographs? And even so, a lot of the TSR staff aren't exactly recognizable.

Always assume the signature is a forgery. Never take the sellers word for it 'cos a certificate or letter of authenticity can be knocked up on anyone's PC. Unless you have photographic or video evidence of the individual actually signing said product, or you're buying it direct from the author it's 99% likely to be a fake. eBay is awash with 'signed' Gygax products.

Never ever buy something that is supposedly signed from a newbie on the market, a newbie who has just appeared on the message boards or ANYONE listed in the Shady Dealers thread. That is seriously suspicious activity.
