Yeh I was watching that one myself to see if it sold, it being rare XD&D Australian modules, never seen one for sale on ebay at all...

Many thanks to Nev for this great thread about off-beat items. I won the D&D tablecloth... yeah, it's kinda sad, but my curiousity got the best of me.

And those D&D cartoon clothing items would be really interesting if they ever made it onto eBay...

It is my understanding that this is what they sent out to dealers to show their customers before the book was actually released. Somewhat rare, but I have seen them go for next to nothing. One sold at GenCon this year for around $30. I think they did this for a few other books also. I have one that previewed upcoming D&D fiction from Wizards of the Coast(some of which was never released). Hope this helps.

BTW: The Action Art sets are fairly common. It is harder to find them complete w/ paint.

I concur with burnt. Evidently the proof/preview versions were sent out to certain dealers and playtesters for evaluation. They seem to be rare but do not go for a lot of $ as of yet. That could change as time marches on... The fact that this one is signed, if the signatures could be authenticated, would tend to increase the value I would think over a un-signed copy.

The soft cover D&D player handbooks went to the premier stores in the WOTC sales database. There where copies floating around the office as well which where intented for playtesters.
The data base was quite large, and it cost WOTC next to nothing to print thoses, so I'm sure the print run was quite large.
Another item that was sent out with the 3.0 PHB to retail stores was the quick rules, mini adventure the end 2nd edition converstion booklet.

And those are "real" signatures, or a great forgery. I recognize there handwriting.

The guy who wrote it has a design credit for Fiend Folio.

I get the impression this is super super rare and I was tempted to bid on it myself - but I'll let someone else have it.

There were some dices made of dinosaur bones up for auction at Gen Con. I guess that beats Roman glass :wink:

The best is the auction description: "Several polyhedra in various materials with similar symbols are known from the Roman period. Modern scholarship has not yet established the game for which these dice were used."
