Here's my latest. Shub-Niggurath from Deities and Demigods.
As originally conceived by Erol Otus.

The classic Dungeon Master's Guide cover by David C. Sutherland III.
The acrylic version of it that I painted in 1995.
A photograph of the original painting from 1979.
The book placed over that painting, showing how much had been cut off.
And now the brand new 2010 version I just finished painting.
Here's some closeups.
From page 166, the Purple Worm by David S. LaForce
And my version of the same.

Love these too... Your details for the head, mane, wings, shoulders, legs, and hooves (Claws?) are amazing to me.
They set that sketch at way above the norm for that critter.
And the Blackmoor Sketch is just outstanding
IMO

My latest painting. Thor vs. the Midgard Serpent.
Based on the original by Roslof from thirty years ago.

I like that (as a bit of a tattoo addict myself)!
I'm hoping to get the original art piece that mine was based on back soon, as I still don't know who the original artist was.
