re: the MM:  please check up the thread @ viewtopic.php?t=3266&start=40&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= and let us know if you've found the missing variant or not :D

Allan, it is a definite 3rd+ hybrid thing as described on the MM page on the main Acaeum site:
Third Plus

   * This is a strange hybrid print.  The cover is identical to the Fourth print (aside from the spine), but the interior is identical to the Third print
   * Wizard logo
   * Cover art is of a collection of monsters, including a small red dragon, a unicorn, and a troll
   * "Advanced D&D" is now in an angled yellow banner, top left corner; the red letters of "Advanced D&D" have black highlights, and there's no "TM" designation after it
   * "Monster Manual" title has moved from lower mid-cover to the top
   * Spine has "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" in red lettering, and now has a very tiny registered trademark symbol.  States "Gary Gygax"
   * No ISBN
   * Endpapers and flyleaves are red
   * States "3rd Edition, December 1978" on the copyright page

I was surprised to see the Giant strengths listed as "21 to 30 as compared to humans", and wish Gary would have left it that way, and made Ogres at 19 and Trolls at 20.  I think I'll house rule that.....

Anyway, I'm happy with this for $1.04.
:D

That was kind of tough to do, mentally, after just having to pay $1900 to have my truck repaired last week.  I'm still kind of shakey.

That seems like a great buy!  Don't they typically sell in the $1400 range?

Don't worry, the shakiness subsides and it gets easier to bid the higher prices the second time - watch out, slippery slope ahead.

The market had been flooded with Tamos: $1,100 would've been closer to the trend (still $250 under, though, which is a pretty hefty chunk of cash).
Inverness is another matter altogether - might still expect $1,250-1,500 on that IMHO unless the waiting list has been reduced "invisibly".

Very happy I managed to snaffle both of these: :D  :D

** expired/removed eBay auction **

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Paid about what i wanted to on them both  :D - couldn't have been about to afford both at some of the prices that have been advertised of late.

I was expecting a few different items this week, so wasn't expecting any huge surprises.

They both arrived on the same day, but I got one hell of a shock with the difference in the care in the packaging:

Each arrived in what they are sitting on.

Fazzle in an envelope, which was wrapped in bubble-wrap, within a box, surrrounded by packing noodles, inside an even sturdier box.

The DG came in the envelope it's sitting on- with nothing else, not even a sheet of cardboard  8O  8O  8O (luckily it doesn't appear to have suffered any damage)

Communication with both guys was great. Postage was about the same for both items, with the DG (more expensive item) actually costing $1.50 more @ $31.50

DG has a few differences to those listed on here: http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/modpages/dmk.html

Encounter sheets are double-sided, and copyright is stated as 1977 not 1976 on copyright page. All pages accounted for though.

Added in extra were a couple of maps from Judges Guild.

I also picked up a nice Cavaliers and Roundheads - probably paid a bit more than they're worth but I've been after one for a while and finally pulled the trigger

Anyone know which printing this one is?
