I was in there too, but could not bid what it was worth anyway, so I quit early on.

Had I known about that lot I doubt you would have won it at that price.  Nice win.

Mine's in far worse condition as well.  (Though it's about what was expected for the price I paid.)

Another minor find.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:IT

The PHB is definately a 3rd print. The cover is solid with normal shelf wear. Remains of a price sticker, a slightly faded spine, and the fact the book was used as a writing blotter are the main detractors. Inside, the pages are very clean, with only a couple of minor stains and 'oops' marks, plus the owner's name in small red ink on the inside cover.

The surprise turned out to be the MM. It's a 4th print with red flyleaves. The inside is barely marred at all. The cover has a slightly faded spine, residue from a price sticker, and some 'indenting' like it had been stuck between rough surfaces and drawn out. None of the 'indenting' removed the cover material, though. Otherwise, it's very solid, with only a slight fraying of corners from shelf wear.

The rest are pretty plain items, but mostly in quite good shape overall. The owner did not make it a habit to write in his books... at least not on purpose. Still nice for $6 an item (inc. shipping).

Check the vampire entry for the errata, and the prices in the last-page catalog, please :D  See viewtopic.php?t=3266

Run your hand over the cover of that Player's Handbook.  It looks like one of the higher quality printings with the tougher, more elastic material over the cardboard.  Can you feel a light texture to the cover?

The vampire does lose 1/3rd of its hit points every round. Most items do not have prices, except for The Dragon, and on the back Star Probe and Star Empires do as well, but that's it. I'll add this info to the other thread.

It's a bit difficult to tell due to all the 'engraving' from use as a blotter, but the area near the spine does indeed have a texture.

Oh, and this is not one of those copies with shading on the reference sheets in the back.

Newest acquisition:
** expired/removed eBay auction **

The photo is washed out. The items are a bit more 'used' than is shown, but I expected such. Box is in pretty good shape. Only mild-moderate indentation top and bottom, one corner has begun to tear (only about 1/5th the way presently), some fraying on a couple of the corners. The books are probably approaching VG+ to Fine-- condition, with only a few notes and 'oops' marks which can be remedied, plus some staple rust.

The seller also included an extra copy of M&T and U&WA which appear to be 5th prints. Same as the 6th prints as far as markings and staple rust, but just more used, probably VG-- to VG.

Edit: Forgot to mention the lack of Ref Sheets. Yes, I know I'm making this an obnoxious habit, but if anyone has an extra copy or two...

Damn good buy for $30.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

That was a good price.

As for the reference sheets:  Does anyone have an extra copy?  8O

Extra copies would seem less likely than a number of sets lacking the reference sheets...which probably got laid aside early.

That assumes that people actually used the white box for gaming.  I got a suspicion that there were few actual white box games.

Not strictly RPG, but TSR & Dragonlance related. Just picked up a played once copy of Dragonlance the boardgame for just a few pence over £4 inc S&H!  Rather pleased with that considering their normal sale prices that I have seen...

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I passed one up at $25 and now I was happy to find one at $35.

The price seems to have gone down on these and I wanted to see what they did to my favorite module. (I will dig into it tonight).
