I was watching that one myself, but missed it. Had to leave for a few hours, so put in bids on a GDG&H and Swords & Spells offered by bclarkie an hour before those ended. Not expecting to win, I hoped to come back in time for this one. When I finally came back, it was well past all three auctions. Extremely surprised to find I won the GDG&H offered by bclarkie.

That completes my search for all the OD&D books, though I could use a better copy of S&S.

Yeah, I was very surprised to see that I got it for that price.  I am most pleased.

Not a "find", strictly speaking, but still fun.

A dear friend of mine came over yesterday with some stuff she wants me to sell for her on ebay.  As a token of her appreciation for the help, she handed me a paper bag full of her old OD&D rule books and early printing supplements, plus her old low-impact dice (i.e., nearly spherical d20).  Apparently, she used to play weekly back in the early 70s.  I knew nothing about this, but my wife had apparently told her I was really into D&D collecting, which led to the "Oh, I think I still have some of my old books" remark, and so on.

Very sweet of her!

Please forgive me gentlefolk for bursting through the door of the chapel during service, but a vein of gold was found while picking away at the tunnels below hill eBay.

I have sought this vein for near five years and my labors have been for naught--until today.

A year ago, I thought I was nearing the source of the motherload, but the granite was too deep and the cost too high.

Thank you.

In the early eighties, during the last recession, I managed to get a job washing dishes. As a Freshmen in High School I felt fortunate, but even working four days a week, those minimum wage dollars barely covered the cost of my car loan (a Datsun B-210), car insurance, and gas.

At that time, I looked at the ad from D. B. Enterprises for the Dragonbone, but it was an expenditure that was beyond what my disposable income provided.

Even today, I will pay hell from my wife--there are two little ones now to consider--but damn, I am glad to have taken the plunge.

From what I have seen, collectors who are selective and patient are the ones that develop a collection that everyone appreciates.  Me, I just buy shiny things.   :D

I know it's not eBay, but I found some goodies at the local Half-Price Books this afternoon while on lunch. I usually find SOMETHING, but nothing like today!

Deep in the shelf - surrounded by old Dragonlance modules and GURPS books, I found an H2, H3 and H4.

The best part is the H2 and H3 were $4.98 each, and the H4 was $6.98. All were in VF+ condition and complete!

Made me smile at work the rest of the evening....

:)

Not too long back I found a Ruins of Myth Drannor box set for $10. I snapped it up with a BIN cause I wanted it.
