Sorry about that. Recent prices are probably higher -- I have not actively been monitoring Warhammer Quest for nearly two years (though I do an occasional look for the expansions) so I was basing off my last-known. A shame (keeps people from starting at an affordable price,) but also a good thing (for resellers.) Like I said, I am not a Games Workshop expert -- I just like the majority of the stuff I've played they released, even Chainsaw Warrior and Dungeonquest.

Hope it was useful, anyway. The market is a fluctuating place; one must always keep their eyes open...

On the subject of Warhammer and Games Workshop, I just picked up copies of War and Death, and Fire and Blood for $7 a pop.

More commonly known to the UK D&D world as Integrated Games' Complete Dungeon Master Series Sets 1 through 4, rewritten for Warhammer.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

That's a great find.  Did you mean the 2nd Alpha with the monster manual pages, by the way? What's the condition like?

Mike.

No, it is definately a 3rd alpha. Condition is Good/Very Good with some cover wear, but overall pretty good.

I didn't have one, so for me it was great find outside ebay, where unless you have a knowledgable seller, printing info is generally scarce or wrong.

I was more excited about finding something outside ebay.

Same place had about six Strategy & Tactics with game...on first glance I was thinking "holy sh.t, I hit the jackpot!" Then I noticed the price sticker at $20-25 each...bummer.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I was quite chuffed with this:

...although you can also get the same Gygax article reprinted in one of the later Dungeon magazines (forget which one).

Unfortunately, I wanted a slightly better deal and came second :(

I was trying to get a good deal on that, too, in the last ten seconds, but the amount kept inching up past my bids as I was trying to place them.  The only thing in my mind was the questionable condition.

I should've asked the seller to post a picture before hand because based on the condition of the DMG he had, the module may not have been worth it, even at that price.

Dammit, I had that on my watch list and completely forgot about it. We'll know soon enough to the condition of it it because the winning bidder is "jastner" or otherwise known as the buying ID for Intelligator.  He'll have it in his store soon enough at 4 times that price.

Hello,

I recently picked up an OCE (a fun-find for me!), and found a Dragon Magazine insert inside... I've never seen one in sets pictured on ebay.  I wonder if they were/are common, or if I've found a curiosity, or even something rare?

Much obliged for any info,

David

There are a few Dragon Magazine advertisement sheets.  I would guess that it didn't originally arrive in the white box.  I have an early one that came with an advertisement sheet pack during the transition from Strategic Review to The Dragon:

I believe there is a different ad that came with some of the Basic D&D boxed sets as well.  I believe these ones are either greenish or maroonish in colour.

Nice one, Mark.  Was that an ebay find, or something off-line?

Oh, and for some reason I'm thinking they were maroon-ish.

This is part of one of my top 5 finds.  I ended up buying a complete set of Strategic Review and Dragon 1-6 for $100 from abebooks.  This must have been 5+ years ago now (and is probably somewhere in the past fun find threads) but I will retell it since it's still a good fun find story.

They were listed as being "bound in a book" and at the time I hadn't spent $100 in one lump on RPG stuff so it seemed like a lot of money.  I figured "bound in a book" meant spines chopped off and glued along the spine into a cover.  With the price of Dragon #1 being $250+ at the time I figured this might be the best chance I had of ever getting one and Strategic Review as well - even if they were bound in a book.  So after a day or two of mulling it over I placed the order, then the next day had buyer's remorse and canceled the order.  Then a couple days later, I repurchased them.  When they arrived, "bound in a book" actually meant they were stored in a binder that pinched at the spines and during shipping most had shaken loose.  Each issue came out without any damage and the binder protected them from any damage over the years so most of the issues are close to NM.

As part of the package there was this note and flyer pack from the time where Strategic Review was switching to The Dragon:

Thanks for posting that.  That's cool to look through.

Mike.
