I don't think there was ever a 3rd one but have heard rumours.

A few weekends back, I managed to finally pay off my layaway box at Crazy Egor's. Had a lot of good stuff in it (around 40 different items...) so that has me stoked. Several good Warhammer modules (Enemy Within campaign stuff) and some minor stuff like R3 and that Silver Anniversary Box Set I'd mentioned a while back.

I just got back from the UK and picked up about 25kg of stuff I have been stock piling at my brother's place there - still have another 10kg of magazines there though.

Some of the highlights are 2 TSR mugs (now I am ready for company), yellow AD&D Starter set, bunch of Dim 6 stuff, Arcane magazine collection, Game Review magazines, DragonLance mini modules boxes, another copy of Superbabes, some Euro versions of D&D computer games, etc.

Hey Mark, looks great! As soon as you have a list of items available for sale, just write me...

Frank Farris and I have been batting this one around for a few years, but to no avail:  it sounds like the possible third set doesn't exist.  See http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl ... tnG=Search

The two sets are (supposedly) designed to fit together and they state this on the side of one box (showing a picture of the two connected. There is definitely room for a third set, but the Dragon is part of the second set.

Wasn't Dragon's Den the name of one of those TSR retro D&D big boxed sets? (with the thin cardboard standups and poster dungeon map similar to Heroquest?)

Have you had a chance to check the MPC 1982 catalog?

I posted the 1983 MPC catalog on the Tome:

http://tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4402

and also checked a 1984 catalog which no longer lists the sets.

IIRC there were only the two sets in the 1982 catalog, as well, but I'll have to pull it out to confirm (and scan for ToT....).

I researched, asked questions and generally chased the "third" set for ages. It doesn't exist.
Come to think of it, I have yet to open the two sets I have....... Are they any good?

Considering the one set I had and destroyed BITD, no.  The terrain is made out of cheap plastic...the figures were cobbled together from already released sets, at least that's what I remember.

I think the boxes are the best part of these sets.  The rest is just cheap plastic.

Not sure if I got a good deal here or not. This lot had all six Aussie Monos. Just received them today. The D1, D2 and D3 are all clean and unmarked. The D3 is particularly fine. However, the G1, G2, and G3 all have flaws. G1 and G2 have light pen marked grids drawn on the back (arrgh) and D3 has minor  pink highlighting (if even one dot of highlighting can be considered minor) on the map (double arrrgh).

There was a booklet called 'War Games Rules' by 'War Games Research Group' dated June 1973 in the lot as well that was not pictured.

My winning bid was roughly USD190 at the current exchange rate.

reckon that's okay even with the damage. If you are unhappy though I will be pleased to offer you a full TEN DOLLARS over and above what you paid for them, just to take them off your hands :D

Ah well that is reassuring  :) . I was surprised with the USD what it is that I wasn't outsniped - I bid actually at AUD50 per item for the monos (i.e. 300).

Nice - nearly A$18 saved on what you were willing to spend (My offer still stands though :D )

hidden lot as scanning auction pics would not see the monos. if had been spotted by more or advertised end result different
even hidden lucky win at that bid. would have been easy resale even if could not justify double that price for self
