I recall I sold my copies of these for about the same price about 3 years ago. Haven't gone up in value since then, I guess.  :)

That is the funny thing about collectibles... Are there today more people collecting said item?  It is almost like a wave effect...

Kids Play Games
Kids Grow Up
Grown Ups Goto Work
Grown-ups - Income Rises - Recapture Youth - Prices Rise
Grown-ups Get Old - Sell Items - Maybe at a Discount
Grown -ups Die - Kids Sell Items at a Discount - or drop them at Half Price Books  :)

The End.

And i was happy with this find, always wanted the binders and only had 2 of the supplements:)  Was always an odd hole in my collection:)

cheers:)

I just used the Acaeum's Logo page and printing Date tables on the supplement data page to figure that out.

Someone went through a LOT of trouble to put those two stes of info together and I have not found any errors in either.

Nice score on the Monster Supplements too.

Have not seen all of those in one listing ever that I recall and I think the price was very low.

tyvm, i was happy to get em for that price:)

And i've started using the Aceaum info as my primary start point for researching, other sites have great info as well but definitely looking here first:)

Very glad I've found such an excellent knowledge pool to draw on with the databases and forums, good to not be stumbling around in the dark so much lol:)

Invincible Overlord wrote:So I met this guy off of Craigslist at a local casino to buy his brown box. Since he drove all the way out by me, I treated him to dinner, and he was telling met his story about the fact that he bought one of the first woodie's that came out. I was like... um... sure... I'm really buying a first print...

But it's a really cool story, and I buy it anyway because even if it's a 3rd printing it's still my first brown box and I got it at a truly affordable price.

So I won $60 playing 1-2 no limit, we were comp'd a free dinner, and at the end of the day I checked it out.

It is a first printing.

Score.

That box is in great shape, the books have been well loved, though. But still, nice score!

It's nice to see a set which was actually played.  That is why they were made, after all.  Sometimes -- given the boxes in good condition regularly sold on eBay -- one might wonder if even then they were all just bought by collectors.   :P

*nods* Was the price on Craigslist, anyhow. :)

+thx for the photos to clarify - the original advert made that late 1st U&WA a somewhat different shade of cardstock. Mystery solved. ^^

Found late printing copies of Eldritch Wizardry; Gods, Demigods and Heroes; and Swords and Spells in excellent shape at Half Price Books for $2.99 a book.  Even had a 10% off coupon.

Wow, $3 per Supplement is wonderful value.

No matter what printing they are.

Have no idea why this sold for so little.

Box not perfect, dice might not be original, and it is a later print... still.

In my opinion, that is the correct price for a Holmes Basic Set in that condition.  That's about what I'd bid.

My first recent fun find...

Bought a large lot of ratty play quality stuff for about $3/piece once you included shipping.

It was all of it was exactly that, better than fair, but no where NM.

The prize?

A complete 2nd print of Outdoor Geomorphs: Walled City, uncut and in pretty good shape actually, again not NM, but very decent.

And a near complete Set Two and Set Three Dungeon Geomorphs, both missing the front cover sheet, but both having the final back sheet which has all of the juicy stuff on it.

Combined with the Set One I got in a Basic box I got for about $15 last year, I just got a complete set of all of the extra info from the various Geomorphs as a surprise.
