Could be :)  I had the translation of Ekspert Eventyr Modul dead-on, Raedslernes stumped me, lol.

So I met this guy off of Craigslist at a local casino to buy his brown box. Since he drove all the way out by me, I treated him to dinner, and he was telling met his story about the fact that he bought one of the first woodie's that came out. I was like... um... sure... I'm really buying a first print...

But it's a really cool story, and I buy it anyway because even if it's a 3rd printing it's still my first brown box and I got it at a truly affordable price.

So I won $60 playing 1-2 no limit, we were comp'd a free dinner, and at the end of the day I checked it out.

It is a first printing.

Score.

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

Nice pickup!  Congrats on your first Brown Box - I flirt with the idea of joining the club too, one day.

I'll ask Bracton to bring his high-powered camera over to our D&D game this Saturday and picture away.

And yes, it's the same one...

In one of the recent Collectors Trove/Gygax auctions, I picked up the catalog for GenCon 17, the third one I attended, back in 1984.

Image

After flipping through it, it occurred to me that this might be the GenCon where I played in a game run by Ed Greenwood.  The event descriptions in the catalogs back then did not indicate who the DM was.  But I remembered that when I read the description for the event back in 1984, it sounded like the event was set in the campaign world Ed described in his articles in Dragon Magazine.  (Needless to say, this was long before TSR put out anything set in the Forgotten Realms.)  So I signed up for the event (which, back then, meant filling out a form with several events in order of preference, and mailing it back to TSR).

Lo and behold I got into that event, and Ed was indeed the DM.  Ed gave each of us copies of the adventure, which he called Into the Forgotten Realms.  Fortunately, I had the foresight to keep my copy.

Image

Ed later turned this into an adventure published in Dragon Magazine.

So, based on the event code at the top of the adventure, I flipped though the catalog, and there is the event, as I remembered.  Upper left, third item.

Image

Anyway, this brought a smile to my face.  D&D was really something special back then, and it was pretty awesome as a 19-year old fan to sign up for an event at GenCon and get to play with Ed.

Cool story, Bracton. Thanks for sharing it.

I have several earlier Gen Con programs (~80-82) and there are a number of tournaments listed that later became published modules.

Ah... didn't spot your reply, sorry.
Cool; everything 'bout the advert said "1st print" but for the complication of the U&WA being an apparent hybrid state, possibly due to some old cardstock being left over.
Should be easy to compare, given where you're headed. :)

Great story Bracton. Must have been a rush of nostalgia.
