I still have a 3-ring binder from that series, and I had a spiral bound notebook, as well.  When I used all the paper in the spiral bound, I pulled the cover off and trimmed the chaff.  I think I have a folder around as well.

Is there a website out there with pictures of all of them?

Tome of Treasures has them.  I didn't realize how many their are.  I think I already had one of these but had never seen the other.

Thanks for the link!  I have the "Berserker Stead" 3-ring binder, the cover from the "Water Beast" spiral bound, and the "Death Rider" folder, which, as I remember now, split down the spine halfway, then I just split it all the way and slid them in a clear outer pocket of some 3-ring binders.

man, those are so cool.  I wish I would have saved my allowance and grabbed the whole set back in the day.

While everyone else was drooling over this shrink-but-bumped to hell one...

I snagged this unshrinked-but-very-lightly-worn copy.

Probably the least worn copy I've personally seen. Been trying to find a copy in this shape for a while. Would have preferred an earlier print (and a little better price), but this will do just fine.

Another nice find.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

The book is a 2nd print in quite nice shape. In fact, it's so nice that I decided to sell my original (non-Cthulhu) copy and keep this one instead. I don't particularly have any use for the Cthulhu or Melnibone mythologies (though I may use the vulture lions at some point), but I do prefer having 'complete' books on my shelves.

EDIT: By the way, as I can't find the relevant thread, I should note that the seller does a nice job of packing and ships quickly. This is my second item in the last few weeks, and the results have been terrific both times.

Finally got me a Dungeons and Dragons Rules Cyclopedia.  I've been following them on eBay for some time and they've been going for $30.00 plus shipping if they are in any decent kind of shape and lots more if the binding is good, no writing and no smells.  I was looking on the shelves of my FLGS, and there's a Cyclopedia in very good shape or better.  The inside was particularly nice.  The binding was excellent and that seems to be what goes first on these things.  I ask him how much and he says "Cover price."  That means I got it for $26.50 total with tax.  While that's not a steal, I was pleased.

I had a chance to look through the whole thing tonight and was impressed with the volume.  It is well organized and thorough. I'd never seen one before but had heard how worthwhile it was.  I agree.   :)

Truth is worth finding and life is too short to work for money.

Given that my gaming budget is negligible anymore, I was pleased to find a treasure trove of Necromancer Games items this morning at Half-Price Books. Mind you I'll be eating ramen noodles for lunch the rest of the week, but I secured my reading material for the next six months. :)

Rappan Athuk I - $3.98
Rappan Athuk II - $3.98
Rappan Athuk III - $3.98
Tomb of Absythor - $3.98
Vault of Larin Karr- $3.98
Lost City of Barakus - $9.98
Wilderlands of High Fantasy boxed set $12.98 (VF - box had some dings)

Most of the items except Wilderlands appeared new and unread.

All in all, very happy. I couldn't afford them, but couldn't let someone else get all those goodies, either.

Good Lord!  8O

You scored man!  Scored!

Eat those ramen noodles with pride!

Our local Half-Price Books guys are either way too savvy or way too stupid about pricing.

(Except for the University District store in Seattle.  They have begun to catch on that D20 hardbacks and White Wolf products need to be 1/4 cover price or lower.)

It is rare to find anything worth a damn at our local Half-Price Books stores.  They have tons of D20 stuff on the shelves, but little if any 1st Edition D&D.  We think their buyers snag most of the goodies and sell them on ebay.  Every once in a while we will find a 1st Edition module (only common stuff) but they usually write "Hard to Find" or "Rare" on it and charge at least twice cover price.  And we are talking about stuff in VG to FN at best.  :x  Hate to see what they would want for a 1st print woody if it ever came in the door and made it to the shelves.

Available now from Die Cast Games: Night of the Black Swords by Allen Hammack (Author of C2-The Ghost Tower of Inverness) with artwork by Jeff Easley and Diesel.

They probably wouldn't recognize it. Okay maybe they would, but as a general rule they don't. The items ending up with collectible prices at the local HPB are those which are both well-known, and which are impressive in their own right, such as an extravagant old Avalon Hill boxed set.

Much of our hobby deals with the humble, mimeographed beginning. Publications like that tend to be priced cheap.

Wish I had a Half Price near me. Best I have is a Goodwill store. And the only gaming material I've seen so far was a Panzer Blitz game.

The Goodwill stores around here stopped carrying games, unless they're Fisher-Price or direct kids toys. Apparently, too many shoplifters... I used to love going in, and to places like Salvation Army thrift shops, because one never knew what one might find -- picked up my Battle Masters and a Hero's Quest there and once even found The Arcanum 2nd Edition tucked away.
