Wait, I never put that together ... Rakeesh is the same member previously known as Harami?

I think we need a chart of the name changes  :)

It's a bit OT, but I've got to put this somewhere, and it IS a TSR fun find . . . .

So, Frank (exTSR) is back in town, and we're gaming in his Empyrea campaign tonight for the first time in a month.  We're in the Caves of Northending, which happen to have been immortalized (in somewhat abbreviated form) in R-3, Egg of the Phoenix.  After a good battle, we finish off eight trolls in their lair.  Amongst the remains, we find the body of a fighter with, among other items, a magical sword.  Our magic-user attempts an Identify, which earns him no information other than a "hello".   8O  8)

OK, an intelligent sword.  So the fighters take stock of who has the highest Intelligence + Charisma + Level (DMG, page 168).  Lo and behold, my cleric/ranger does.  So he picks up the sword . . . which turns out to be Paramel, one of the three fabled dragon slayers of Empyrea.  Which (with different attributes) can be found on page 9 of R-3.   8)

(For those not versed in TSR lore, Frank is the author of the R series.)

This means, of course, that you're now up front fighting with Yuri...

... and you forgot to mention about us picking up the Libram of Gainful Conjuration...

I can't believe that those cheap bastards in Northending only offered us 50,000gp for the Libram...   8O

Someone walked away with a 3.5 boxed set (and FRCS and Basic Game) for $63 bucks - nice find when you tally it as $21 per 3.5 book, and the others as freebies, and especially nice considering most of the 3.5 sets seem to be going for well over double or triple the final price of this lot.

So 3.5 books are actually increasing in value?

3.5E Core 3 (MM, PHB, DMG) books are slowly but steadily increasing in value. Spell Compendium and Magic Item Compendium have gone through the roof, buth hitting $50 a copy in NM condition. The others seem to be lagging below RRP. Some of this may be regional, but it's ironic that a box of Spell Compendiums weighing 25kg is shipped by WoTC to the UK and then a hige chunk of my buyers are then paying some $70 to buy the book and have it shipped back to the USA.

There's money to be made in 3.5E hardbacks in the current market.

I just got back from visiting a used book store in a nearby town.
Got the following haul.
Image
The Blackmoor and Eldritch Wizardry are both 9th printings. There is some staple rust.
The Handbook of Traps and Tricks is a 3rd printing and it also has some staple rust.
The Southern Mirkwood still has the map attached in the center.
The three Borderland magazines were printed in Markham Ontario in 1984.
I paid $45 for the lot.
None of the books have writing or marking/highlighting with the exception of where the used book store penciled in a price inside the front covers of each.

What is it with Canada?

Used bookstores in the Pacific Northwest have over-priced hardbacks you don't want and romance novels.

Borderland looks interesting. Is it MERPS? English, French, or a bit of both?

They are listed on the cover as "Dark Fantasy" and are entirely in English.
Each is 40 pages with a minimal amount of advertising.
I have not read them but from paging through they appear to be collections of short fiction, poetry and book reviews.
Lots of interesting artwork inside each of them.
The interior pages are newsprint that have started to lightly tan.
I had not heard of them before but they looked interesting.

The Dallas-Ft Wroth area is almost always picked clean.
And as you stated, common books are commonly listed at or above cover price.
Even at Half Price Book stores many common items are rediculously priced.

No real hope down here with the bookstores.

I had an nice Craigslist find recently with over 130 d&d fiction books and stacks of Warhammer fiction.  I just read Outcast..... from that lot.  Dark Sun is a very strange world, lol.

It is a shame that the Dark Sun sub web on the Acaeum was never completed.

Yeah. If you're gonna do Dark Sun, you might as well do Spelljammer and Dragonlance to boot.
