God help me, but I've always been sort of fascinated with the whole "Return to" concept that re-examines some of our favorite classic modules. While they are certainly not a replacement for the originals, some of the "Return To" series have been quite good.

Here's what I'm wondering: just how many places have we actually returned to? I figured that after I got really good feedback on my White Plume Mountain checklist from a while back, I'd ask the Acaeum community to help me build the definitive checklist.

Okay, here's the ones I know of:

* Return to the Tomb of Horrors (S1)
* Return to White Plume Mountain (S2)
* Return to the Keep on the Borderlands (B2)
* Against the Giants (G1-2-3)
* Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (T1-4)

(question: would you guys count Slavers, the 2e Greyhawk Adventures product?)

And here's the new series from WotC:

* Expedition to Castle Ravenloft (I6)
* Expedition to the Demonweb Pits (Q1)
* Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk (WGR1, I guess)

Okay, beyond that, I'm open to suggestions. I would count something like Dungeon Magazine #77, which included an adventure that specifically was a new take on a classic module (WPM in this case). For instance, didn't Dungeon also recently do a version of the Isle of Dread? And I know there was a Hommlet map in an issue of Dragon from a couple of years ago — did it also contain an adventure?

Please don't be shy — if I'm missing something that is a fresh take on an existing module, please let me know.

Dungeon did do an Isle of Dread issue with map and info..the island also is featured in the Savage Tides series of adventures through Dungeon. Though the island isn't on Mystara/Known World for this reincarnation.

Actually if you are doing G1-2-3, then you have to include A1-4 if it changes some stuff, I3-5 which does, S1-4  8O yeah, and GDQ.  Can't recall if B1-9 tries to tie them all in or just a compilation.

The Lost City is in the latest issue of Dungeon (142?), and I would definitely count Slavers in the mix.  In addition, the 3.5 DMG2 updated the town of Saltmarsh IIRC (although that's more like a full-blown addition since Saltmarsh was never detailed in U1-3 IIRC), and the 3.0 Dungeon of the Fire Opal module by Jonathan Tweet appeared in Dungeon 84 (based on the sample dungeon in the AD&D DMG).

Actually, I was thinking of "The Liberation of Geoff" 2e product (from the Silver Anniversary line), not the 1e module. If that makes sense.

Yeah, you have to count the Slavers module from 2e.

Of course, it was a complete piece of garbage. I would kill to write a sequal or return to for the A series. It certainly would not have gone the way of that Slavers book. It had none of the feel from the original modules.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Just compiles them, although there's a kind of "flow chart" provided that you can use to string together a campaign.

I feel like we're missing one ... a 3e product like RTTTOEE, maybe? I just so don't follow the 3e scene; hell, for all I know, I'm missing more like four items.

Hmmmm ...

And it does not even compile them all. I don't think B1 is included at all. There might be some other omissions, too.

:?:  B1 is in the B1-9 compilation. Afaik, there's nothing missing from it. The lower level(s) to Castle Caldwell maybe?

Only the maps to B1 are included; there is no adventure (no In Search of the Unknown); the maps are included for the DM to do something with on his own. The adventure is also missing parts of B9 Castle Caldwell (which was in three parts), and I believe other editing took place on some of the other modules, but I don't have them all handy right now to double check.

How about 1995's "Mark of Amber" for "Castle Amber" (X2)?

Whoah, you're totally right. I can't believe I never noticed that, lol! I was thinking that B1 was rolled into B2 for In Search of Adventure, but it's not. Sorry about that.
