You know what might be a nice gesture?

Get JP's old PHB to make the rounds for say, three more months, have some people who have been waiting patiently get a chance to sign the back flyleaf (Kosh comes to mind), and then have the final person in line mail it back to him. I'd be happy to kick in a couple of bucks to help cover the shipping to Aussie-land.

He might get a smile out of seeing his old manifesto and also seeing how many different places that book has traveled.  :)

I think the book is already on the way to Oz....so maybe after our Australian members see it, it can be delivered to JP? ....Also, would be nice to see a scan of the back page to see all the sigs there now....

Hi Al,

Great idea ! Will have to see what can be arranged.

Pro565 any chance of pre-positioning Jim on the idea?

I'd like to take a look at at (in the UK) at some point as well.  However I do think once the Acaeum members have finished with it it should be sent back to Jim Perelman (permantly if he wants it).

How does one get put on this list? I would like to throw a word in it.

It's pretty much just shouting out. We've sort of been informally sending the book to the "next guy" in a purely unscientific manner.

Duke, great idea of getting it back to Perleman.  I'll chip in as well!  Heck, what are we talking, 21 bucks international priority?

Hey now! Anyone ask me if I am selling it?

I drew a complete blank on this comment for about a minute ... and a lightbulb finally went on over my head.

I'd totally forgotten: this is actually your PHB now, right? You got this whole thing started way back when, it looks like.

So my bad. I didn't mean to speak for you. I do think it would be funny/ironic to get it back to JP, but it should definitely be your final decision as to the eventual fate of the book.

Sorry about that.

True....Kosh probably wants to keep this part of gaming history...maybe auction it off as "The Jim Perelman Copy of the PHB" or somesuch... :D

Maybe Jim could be satisfied by the scan Aneoth did...someone could mail him a copy of the disc.

Sorry, Kosh.  Guess I had forgotten it was yours, and was assuming it was Duke's!  Old age, you know... :D

Oh, man, I would have loved to have won that book on eBay or something ...  :)

One cool thing about how this has developed is that, at the very least, JP can do two things:

1. View these various threads (hopefully understanding that we were mostly fascinated by his passion for the game, not intending to be outright mean about it);

2. View the scans that are available ... somewhere (I actually saw the book, so I've never needed to look at the scans).

If this all works out, he should be able to get a good laugh out of his youthful passion for the game.

Which reminds me, I meant to ask:

Kosh, who was the seller that you won the PHB from?  Could be an interesting piece of the story.
