DMG 2nd print Alpha (the one with the MM pages inside)

WOW!

I was watching this auction until the end, it took a $1200 jump in the last minute or so....

I predict we'll see another of these sometime soon, this price is bound to get the squirreled away copies out of the woodwork...

He must have been saving up for a large purchase. I just looked at his feedback and this is his first purchase (under that ID) for a year.

I think some of the others might have been during the Kuntz auctions that Paul ran last spring.

First of all, let me say that that price is just stupid. :?   Secondly, I do recognize that bidder ID previously and it seems that he/she has a habit of ending up in the stupid auction price category.  IIRC that same guy bought a pretty beat up 1st print PHB (not even a T1st print mind) last year for somewhere around the bargain price of like $225.

Not stupid, current market price. there were three bidders over $1000.00.  It is a rare item after all.

Hard to say how rare it is.  This will certainly get people looking into their DMGs, and who knows, a bunch more might show up.

Anyone noticed the 1st print Basic rulebook?  Not bad condition, if you're looking for one:

From the picture, looks like another first print Basic Rulebook. Not as well advertised and only $US3.00

yes, but i've already risen the question: what is the fair value of the single rulebook (thus meaning without box, dice and so on)? ...is it somehow tied to the appraisal of the entire box set? if yes, how can i deduct it???  :?
