All,
Rececently I won item #250027442966 on eBay. After an agonizing delay it arrived yesterday. The seller had sent it to the wrong person, then paid to have it sent by registered mail to me. I am telling you this so you know that the seller, olgaitaly, is a wonderful credit to eBay, and you could trust her completely. You can imagine the horrors that were running around in my little brain. The whole episode has given me renewed respect for the people who trade on eBay, and hope yet for my fellow humans.
About the item; it is indeed the rarer version of the Wham sheets, mentioned in the description on The Acaeum. It is side-tearing, on the side that has the 3-hole punches. The cover says 25 pages, I counted 28. It has the orange-reddish tint. Condition is just beautiful.
If you look closely at the hole-punches in the auction picture, you can see something that looks to be under the Wham sheets. It was not. Stuck in between a couple of pages is a sheet that says The Character Archaic. I have a mint Character Archaic and the sheet is the same style, but it is NOT like any of the sheets in The Character Archaic. I have never seen it before, either on this website or anywhere else, but you are the people to ask about it.
The sheet is 8 1/2 inches from top-to-bottom and 14 inches?! from side-to-side. That is correct, 8 1/2 by 14. It is folded from the right side, where it says, "fold here to fit binder". It is yellow. It is 2-hole punched on the left side. Aside from lines to record character info, there are 11 beautiful character portraits on the sheet. Except for that one fold, it is in terrific shape.
What information do we have on this, and do we need a picture of it and maybe the side-tear, punched Wham sheets? Also, I wanted to bask in the awe of my peers. I may not have a first print(or even a wood-grain), but I got some pretty cool stuff anyway. Yeehaw!

Sounds most interesting.  Thanks for the information.  Please do post a couple of scans when you get the chance.

Nice one!

That could be a sheet from the 2nd printing Character Archaic.  This thread should provide some details:

Congrats!  Looks like you might have a rare sheet, no matter what!  Please post a picture if you can.

dbartman, it is indeed a 2nd print sheet. even though that thread contained a picture, I will post scans. Here is the Wham side-tearing, 3 hole-punched character sheets also. BTW, the person who had the sheets by error and then forwarded them to me by registered mail, is Kynan Connor. My thanks to him. -Tom

I believe Kynan used to frequent the site quite regularly. ;)

Definitely looks like a 2nd print CA sheet.  Perhaps the original owner had copies of CA and the Wham sheets and this unused sheet ended up in the Wham stash you would up with.  Nice little extra to be sure!

Kynan feels(and I agree) that the sheet might have been originally sent by TSR with the Wham sheets. I'd like to hear any thoughts about this. -Tom

I'd imagine it's unlikely, but anything's possible, of course.

By the time the Wham sheets were produced (1977), TSR wasn't distributing Character Archaic, Wee Warriors was doing so themselves.  (I'm just going by the Acaeum page on this one... http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/miscpag ... acter.html)

Well rumaging through some things I found that I have these (though it is only 2 sheets still attached to the cardboard backer and side tearing)

So what are these exactly (with what is known about the character record sheets)?

Interesting date and T.M. applied for notation.  What is the actual color?

I know I don't have any of these, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that photo or one like it.  Aren't those the Wham sheets, in grey?  :?

I'd say a light grey (not quite as dark as the scan)

This is really a great story regarding the sale. I cannot imagine a better person to share in this research while helping to forward your win to you. A very helpful seller to boot. Not all bad people creep around ebay.

That is a (Tom Wham) Character Sheet. They came in a multitude of colors - tan, yellow, blue, pink and green (and possible one ore two more). We used them for years.

Since I am too lazy to check the Acaeum notes, the side tearing version is most likely the first (and/or second) print. Later printings tore at the top.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Howdy All,

Been meaning to pst this for a while now. Here is the 1st printing of the Tom Wham Character Sheet Pad:

Image

Note, that it is the last of the F series, F1009, making it earlier than what is listed on the Acaeum page for character sheets.

Otherwise identical to the other sheets with the same TM and copyright notice.

Paul
