ciao guys, few questions about D&D magazines:

* is there any difference between US and UK version of dragon? i.e. is the dragon #123 issued in US exactly the same as the UK version of dragon #123?

* how many imagine magazine have been issued in total?

* has anybody of you ever read "game master magazine"? is it easy to be found? is it rare (and therefore) expensive?

EDIT: just found a seller with all (i suppose) the game master issues! not expensive at all: 3 EUR per issue (anyway 11 issues makes them expesive...  :D ) ...the first question still remains: any of you read it? is it good?

tnx and ciao

Aia, the Acaeum has some TSR mag info (especially with regard to Imagine):

http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/periodicals.html

Afterglow2 has the GM mags:

Others here can answer to the quality...I've seen none of them!  :)

i have some of them GM magazines. at best, like Brette says, they are pretty average and certainly not up to the quality of others imo.

values i would say VERY low, whichever way you look at it.

well go and buy some then :)

to each their own i think. i dont particularly like them and find Imagine and Dungeon much better - but that is my choice.

Quality is much lower than any of the ones you mentioned....All the GM mags I've read, I don't think I ever ran across a useful article.  I'd rank it almost useless for gaming purposes.

Aia

look into collecting fanzines. they are quite rare and are most definately a challenge to collect.

Besides Dungeon and Dragon mags, I love Imagine.  I still have a few to go to complete my collection. Looking to start collecting stuff like Tortured Souls, I found an issue or two and they look ok.
If you are interested in branching out you might try Different Worlds mags also.  Some have pull-out modules in the middle for different game systems like Villians & Vigilantes, Call of Cthulhu, Runequest, etc. Two issues had a two part Blackmoor module written by Dave Arneson!  Plus the reviews of some of the products (remember, this is the mid 80s) are very informative.
