There was a very unusual article in the LA Times yesterday.
The article was a review of the Lamborghini Spyder. While this is not unusual, there was a line at the end which perked my ears up. Something like:

This vorpal-bladed vehicle will have your friends saying snicker-snack....

I immediately recognized it. It says volumes about the article's author. Anyone?

You mean other than Lewis Carroll - Jabberwocky

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
'Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!'
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

I think Lewis Carrol is dead, and therefore he would be unable to write an article about the Lamborghini Spyder.

I was unsure what he was asking? Was he asking who the author was? Was he making comment about the reference to the poem or that it used terms now associated with AD&D? But in the end I got to post a copy of the poem so all is ok  8)

I of course knew Carroll was dead. I guess I am not sure who would use those references for a car? I would guess a gamer but I am still not sure he was asking if we could guess the author or was just pointing out the reference.

As an aside, but connected, if anyone likes hard sci-fi there is a Book called the Science Fiction Hall of Fame Vol 1. In there is a story called "Mimsy Were the Borogoves", a line from the poem (the connection) that and most of the others stories in that book are well worth reading.

I wasn't sure either.  I figured that he was refering to the author of the article, but I could be wrong.  Certainly would not be the first time. :)

I was thinking more along the lines of EX2. If memory serves, the bandersnatch stole an intelligent vorpal sword named Laprov from the two monks. They offer a bagful of pearls to the adventurers if they recover it. CN alignment, and I think it has the Fly ability. If you try to keep it, it will take you over and yell "Snicker-snack! Snickersnack! I'll cut your heads off if you don't take me back!".
I haven't looked at the mod in about 15 years, but I do recall a lot of it.
I suppose he COULD have lifted the lines from the poem. Damn Marlith, bursting my bubble................
