Was a folded up poster, I believe a knight on horseback.  Horse had barding on.

Definitely not the artwork from the D&D Companion set.

I recall getting it at Sears and it may have even been a Greyhawk poster.

Anyone have one or know what I'm talking about?

Very early eighties.  AD&D promo poster.

Was taped to the back of my bedroom door and not sure what ever happened to it.

Got it free with a purchase of a D&D module or book.

I'll probably end up looking like an idiot and it'll be from 1985 or something and from one of the D&D boxed sets.

Was it the same picture that was on the cover of Forgotten Realms Adventures?  That came in the 2e Forgotten Realms set.

No, much earlier than that.  Seems to me it had something to do with the Greyhawk boxed set maybe.

I'll either find it someplace in a box or see it on eBay.

But not the FR art.  Its definitely 1st edition.

Well, you are not an idiot because I do remember there being a poster give-away at Sears in the early 80's and it was before 1984 (when my mother died) but after 1981 (when my father died)...if I had to make a guess the give-away was sometime between June 1981 to about May/April 1982. I think there was more than one poster though....for some reason I think there were three different ones, but who knows when you are trying to remember something from 20 years ago.

I'm not familiar with any Greyhawk posters except for those that appeared in Dragon Magazine 100 (the Saga of Old City poster).  I also can't think of any classic 1e Greyhawk images that would involve a knight on barded horse, off the top of my head.

That doesn't mean that they didn't exist, just that I've never heard of them :D

I had two posters, I know one was a greyhawk poster, the knight and horse may just have been generic D&D/AD&D.

The knight is facing you its not from the side.

For all I know I just went to Sears that day and got something at Crown Books where they gave me a promotional poster.

Is the poster in this auction the one you are thinking of?

Yes, and no.   :D

Thanks for that link!

The one I had, had a different border, and closer in on the artwork.

But its like that, only closer in on the knight.

No white border, different font, and didn't say Paladin.

But that is the artwork used.  I keep thinking it had to go with WoG as well.

I had a poster with that artwork (it was a full-size poster, though, with no border and no writing).  It's an Easley painting.  I'm pretty sure I didn't get it free with anything (this was 15 years ago, so my memory is sketchy).  I believe I picked it up at a bookstore, in their poster rack.

Foul

IIRC, that's the cover for Dragon 62.
