The three books themselves look to be in really good condition. I hope someone on here wins this, I would like to here a full report on the condition of this set, when the winner receives it.

Usually, if someone not on here wins something big, we pester them until they show up.   :)

Go celebrate with a stiff drink.  The Canadians have some decent whiskey, if you don't mind blends.

Well I don't think the sellers will consider whoever offered them $75 to be their closest friend from now on.

Just as long as there's enough money left to buy a drink when you get there and it doesn't mean you have to live on beans for a month

Congrats indeed - a real fight at the end.  Well done, you deserve a drink now.

In an hour I will be off to meet some people at the Boot & Flogger

...for a glass or two of wine.  I will raise a toast to your victory!  :D

Is the Boot & Flogger next door to the Foot & Blogger?

Man, I love the names you guys give your pubs.  How could a wife get pissed at a guy for hanging out at a place like that?  That's probably part of the strategy involved in naming them, isn't it?

It certainly helps!

Apparently a Boot & Flogger is an old fashioned method of opening a wine bottle (pre-corkscrew).  You literally do attach a wooden 'boot' and use a 'flogger' to whack the cork in.  I think that is - perhaps the person who told me was having me on.  :)   It is an interesting place - a bit like an old gentleman's club with ancient big leather armchairs and lots of old wood panelling.  And it is just across the road from an old plague graveyard (which has been concreted over, but no-one can build on it, so it is just left empty...  8O ).

Sounds like just my kind of place.  I'll be there around 6-ish.  The graveyard is what did it for me.

No IIRC the last one went for $4200.00 (Red Bus), so I imagine that is what it is worth now!
