Let's try to figure out what the differences are regarding the rarity or commonness of the white box sets.

I'd like to know how many of each copy are in possession of Acaeum members.  If you don't want to post it here, feel free to PM me your inventory.  All of this information will go into the updated table of rares that I'm working on, and will of course be kept confidential.

I'm interested in complete sets only (i.e., box and booklets, and preferably also ref sheets).

Note:  if you entered your info in the first poll, please re-enter it here.  That first poll was incomplete.

C. None of the above.

I don't have a white box set.
That said, they seem incredibly common to me. There's usually a dozen or so on eBay each month.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Since there are a few prices left behind to confuse; quick-and-dirty scan.

Stock list at back of "Men & Magic" (6, above; 7, below)

Image

Various releases of each (and a similar "extra" print for the last of each of the supplements).
Don't ask me how to distinguish SW'd copies! :D

*bump*

The "none" option didn't show up in the poll (too many entries, I guess), so just post that if you don't have one, as Ian has done.

Thanks.

Don't have one.

Recently turned down a 6th. Too much for the condition.

I've bid on so few white boxes you could easily romp home on any you wished with little probability of interference from here.

However, I do have distinct recollections that not long after you made yourself known to the community (bidding $85 or whatever it was on a L3 helped), there was an auction where I sniped you on each supplement as it came around until you posted your trials-and-tribulations here and I let the 5th print OD&D box go to you for $70 or so.
Am fairly sure it was you, Al! :)

OK, if so, what did you do with it? :P

Collectors: love 'em!

All this time I was trying to pick up 4th prints on the sly, the rest of you were doing the same - even though there was no particular "premium" to the set.

I'd have to dig out the figures, but when I was keeping count of the relative ratios the numbers were something like 1 4th : 3 5ths : 40+ OCEs.

=
Ask about relative rarity on a collector's forum?! :D
(Thanks, Stephen; very interesting already...).

Sorry, I didn't know.
The supplements arrived AOK and they cost about the same, between them.

Wow, stunning!  Look at the lead the 4th prints have built up!

Now I wish I hadn't sold those two 5th prints I had...

Both of my OCE's are 6th prints.  One of my Men and Magic has two covers though.  :?  Always thought that was a bit odd.

Both of my OCE's are also 6th prints.  My copies of Men & Magic are slightly different.  The interior pages of one were printed too high, so the text starts right at the top of the page.

Same with me. Even though we were playing AD&D, I still bought the set. Never used it though and it is still in near mint shape. I remember seeing it sitting on our local hobby shop's shelf for at least six months collecting dust.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
