Are these confirmed real? Or are they something somebody painted. I don't know here...

Well the picture shows Tanis and Alhana Starbreeze astride a Griffon. Alhana rescues the (some) Companions of the Lance from Tarsis and they flee on Griffons chased by Kitiara's blue dragons. The Blue dragons are presumably what Tanis is pointing at.
This was all covered in module DL10 but obviously it wasn't used for cover art on that module. I don't think its ever been used for cover art unless it was one of the much later Dragonlance novels (it certainly wasn't used for the early novels).

Yep. These are the real things. I know another collector who has bought another original Elmore from the same seller.
I was wondering if it wasn't one of the later
DL
mods. But it could always be a novel as the seller knows where all the images originate but not that one.
Later.

Supposedly it is one of the pictures featured in the Art of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. I don't have a copy of this book but it might give some information on where it is from.
Cheers,

It is on page 44 of the Art of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons book. I thought I had seen it elsewhere though

Sorry, I hadn't been paying attention to the forum for a little while . . . .
Yes, those are all real -- I bought Elmore's "Ancient White" from this seller. As for publications . . . .
The Easley griffen piece was done for an old module, I believe, but the name escapes me at the moment. The "Crown of Power" is the cover to the 1st edition "Dragonlance Adventures" hardcover, and the black dragon piece is a Dragon magazine cover.
The Caldwell was published as one of Gygax's paperback novels, I think. It was definitely a book cover as opposed to a gaming cover.
The two Elmores are non-TSR paperback covers.

Hey, thanks for replying on this Pat---I wasn't able to locate the AoE
EGG
novel cover a week or so ago, wanted to save the image.
Thanks!
