Wow.  Congrats to Frank on getting a kick-ass price for his shrink-wrapped 25th Anniversary box set:

Is that a new record?

It is the rarer version with the signed Easley print. Only 1000 of that version were made. The silver sticker on the front is the give-away. Most of the sets w/o the signature have been selling for around $90 or more lately.

Probably.  8O   So much for it being a "good gauge of current value", Frank.  Ok, ok, I'm just jealous.

I had assumed they were random and there was no way to tell.  Does that mean that the info here is incorrect?

I was wondering about that sticker.  Thanks for the info.

News to me. I thought a shrink set was a shrink set. I hope Trove enjoys it (well, looking at it, I suppose).

Yes.. I guess if the numbers are right, that that makes a one to

four ratio of signed to unsigned prints..

I'm curious what people would rate as the rarity for a limited edition

of 1000 copies - is that about a 4, or does it stretch a 5!?

Burntwire pointed out the sticker on the shrinkwrap as an indicator in a pervious thread. I previously thought there was no difference. An email has been sent to Foul requesting a correction to the acaeum information page.

I suspect un-opened versions with the sticker are very rare indeed.

Cheers,

Curt

Maybe a 4, some day, but definitely not a 5.

If 1000 copies were printed 30 years ago, that might make a 5 -- most of them wouldn't survive.  Because these have always been marketed as a collector's item, it's doubtful they'll ever be truly rare.  The survival rate is too high.

I have one in shrink with that sticker on it.  I got it last summer for $60 US from a store that still had it as old stock.  I only bought it to resell it but now it looks like it is going to stay in the hoard for a while.

It is driving me a bit crazy because I can't remember if my other set - the one that I opend years ago - had that sticker on it or not (the print in that on is not signed).

I don't...

I have had at least six sets go through my hands and none have had a sticker on them. At least one set was not in shrink and that one did not have the signed poster.
I have one set in shrink and one out of shrink in my collection - I had to read L3...(shrink wrap lovers better take their heart medication).

I still maintain my drumbeat that these boxed sets will continue to increase in value.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

So that's two. Anyone else? If not, it is officially rarer than Inverness, Tamo, Fazzle, etc. since the total number of known copies is far greater.
I think you will find that shrinked copies of this are a lot harder to find than you would think. And the unshrinked ones would have the Easley art missing in many cases.

I've got one of the signed sets, bought from the collection of Keith Strohm via gal_havoc. But no longer in shrink! It cost about 102$ I

think.

I've had 3 shrink-wrapped Silver Anniversary Box sets, and none of them had that sticker on the front.  I opened one of the sets, and the print was unsigned.

We have 5. One is our original(opened) that had the sticker & signed print. 3 of the 5 are in shrink with one still having the sticker. We picked up a couple at GenCon a few years ago for $30 each. Should have bought all they had.  :)  We are holding onto them as we feel they will keep going up in value over the next few years.
