I thought this would end up going for around $150 and I was sure my bid was more than ridiculous...

I think that your bid was more than ridiculous!!

Some 'names' in that bid list but all dropped out at more reasonable levels - buyer is a bit of a mystery - only 6 f/b and no activity in the last month - last feedback was 12 months ago but all glowing - and mainly from reputable game sellers - collectors trove etc.  Perhaps it's a 2nd ebay user id (anyone want to 'fess up)

hehe funny thing is though, these things happen.

this happened to me and blackmoor some time ago, when we were both bidding on blasted land.

jeff threw in a ridiculous bid and thought that would do it, except mine was more ridiculous a few seconds later :D

was quite funny at the time and we had a really good smile about that one :D

some items like that though will command exceptional prices now imo....the 1st basic book is another. doubt you will likely see another go anywhere cheap unless its a BC style BIN steal :D

Hey check this one out:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I know...this one is a shocker! Very pleased to come home and saw that it had jumped from around $10 all the way to $40! I think that might be it, as all of the watchers are gone for some reason   Only question left is will I make a second chance offer to the runner up for a pair in better condition!

Makes even less sense with this auction having recently ended....

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Condition is certainly better than mine...

This one deserves a mention...

Absolutely make that 2nd chance offer, strike while the iron is hot :D
Do not even tell the 2nd guy that the condition is better just make the offer and send it away.

Congrats on the wicked price

I know a place in the Seattle area where these packs can be bought new, right off the shelf.  I don't know if there is a cleric pack there, but there were at least 3 or 4 of these on the shelf for the original price...and they are probably still there.

Anyone in the Seattle area who wants to know the store, PM me.

That has to be a listing error.  The seller also has Howl From the North and the starting price is $9.99.  But then there is that copy of C6 with an opening price of $18....maybe he had a massive brain fart and asphyxiated the logic center of his brain.

This is what I call maximizing sales potential:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Check out the rest of his items and you will notice that the seller has a separate auction for each of the books in the Planes of Law box set and all of them start at $9.99.  If he even gets one bidder on each auction that will net him at the least $60.  The Planes of Law complete set doesnt normally garner that much.  Since cotrep has been around for a while it isnt as if he doesnt know that these are part of a box set.  This is just a ploy to make more money off of his buyers.  I was tempted to list this in the shady sellers thread but with the starting prices at $9.99 and it not being what I would normally consider "shady" status....I will list here instead.

I'll say it's shady then . . . as I see it - if someone knows something is "part" of a box set and makes no mention of it whatsoever, then they are "hoping" to get someone to buy it out of ignorance.

There can be no other reason for not mentioning it - if you are offering it up for those who might need it to complete an otherwise incomplete set, all you've got to do is give a brief mention:  "part of the Planescape Planes of Law Set".
