Speaking of Orange B3's

http://item.express.ebay.com/B3-Palace- ... xpressItem

And I have been told mine was reserved at a silly price.........

Read the description.

Picture shown is a stock picture of a B3 Palace of the Silver Princess (Rare Orange Cover Version). The actual condition is: New Softcover in Original Shrink Wrap!.

They state that the pic is a Stock PHOTO?!

What a crock, can you say asshats?

T&T are idiots.

They want almost $9k? Wow. I'd rather buy two 1st print OD&D boxes.

Stock photo of an orange B3?  Isn't this the ONE occasion when you break out the camera to take another pic?

This can only help yours sell, Aneoth.  Buyers will see yours, and they'll see T&Ts,  and any price under 5K will look like a bargain!!!

Has any RPG item in history gone for 9 Grand?????

Great picture though!

I love that the description says 'top & bottom' of the box - as if that's some kind of a huge bonus :D

oh, well: one at least! what it really drives me crazy is the proportional shipping charge they apply!!! the higher BIN, the more expensive shipping fee: 100 bucks! (i wonder whether for such items they buy a flight for a cleck who delivers in your hands the booklet...)

Encyclopia Magica, Vols 1-4.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I wrote the seller asking about it and pointing out several other such listings currently on E-Bay all at less than half his price.

His answer:

Dear aneoth,

Take a look at the set on abebooks.com for a reference price on all four of them.

- edrhoads

So, only due to boredom, I checked abebooks and was astonished.
he was absolutley correct. His prices are in line with the highest ones on abebooks.

However, if you look at the other end, they list MANY more at about what you would expect to pay on E-Bay. More or less, $10 per book or $50-$60 per set of four.

So, I wrote him again...............

Yep, I sorta figured you might be using that site. So does Half-Price Books. Try the search feature on E-Bay. IMO it will show you more realistic prices. Honestly, I was not trying to be mean or rude, only informative. Those of us who collect older D&D items ignore ABEBOOKS listings completely. It is the main reason so many items are listing on E-Bay rather than on abebooks. The prices listed there range from normal (About the same as you will find on E-Bay) to rediculous like the add on abebooks now listing a price of $250 for Volume One alone.........
A question: why would a potential bidder buy those four books for $100 to $250 when they could pick from a half dozen other listings for the same books for less than $60? Anyway, Best regards, and I wish you luck using abebooks to price D&D stuff on E-Bay. Aneoth

To be honest, I think that the BIN price is outrageous, but the starting bid is probably somewhat less than one would expect to pay for the complete set. The leather cover set fetches neat amounts of money, definitely.

Good thing I bought those books (and the Wizard/Priest Spell Compendiums as well) as soon as they came out on the market.

Not that much.

Recent auction prices (not including shipping):

51, 61, 52, 69, 52, 64

Recent BINs:

84, 90

There was also a non-sale at 69.95 with a 74.95 BIN.

This guy is well above market.  You would think he would have learned his lesson, as he already listed the set at $190 starting bid (same $240 BIN) and got no action.

Same seller, same listing new prices.

WOWSERS!

A seller who actually can back off of high prices.......

He has revised his Bin and his starting price both.

Starting at $50, BIN at $140.

I'm still amazed at how much Gary's demise has bumped prices up. I had placed 18 dollars on this one and I thought I was going to overpay it. It's never been worth this much.

Nah, that's the second one I've sold, the first one went for a little over $20 if memory serves. Honestly, getting any of the main D&D/AD&D modules for under $20 in the shrink is rare. At least, in the last 6 months that I've been looking that is. :) Personally speaking, even as a buyer, I'd pay $20 for most modules in the shrink, that's a fair deal for me. YMMV I guess. :)

I agree, I am generally ready to pay *way* more than that for SW modules. But I realize there are modules which fetch ludicrously low prices, even in the shrink. That one used to be one of them; others are, for example, B6, X6 and X8.
