Dead you can but only for verified values.  I think the Post Office, Fed Ex, UPS, etc...usually only insure for $100 unless the value is for something that has a concrete reciept, like say a $5000 Dinning set or something, or if you have a bonified piece of art or collectible that has a certified value (Baseball cards or comics are an example of a collectibles that can have certified values, or a painting sold at a prestigious auction).

I dont believe you can just insure it for any old amount, because that would have the word "Scam" written all over it hehehe.

I reported that tool for excessive shipping.  I would love to make that guy an "insulting" low offer like $1, but I would not want to pay that shipping on the case that he took me up on it!

Mike, Im not 100% positive but I think you can get more if you send it registered mail, like 20-25k or some such.  The only reason I remember is a couple of years back I helped my father ship some artwork he purchased in Hong Kong.  When they discussed insurance the Post Office agent said it could be covered up to that amount but to collect my dad would have to prove value.  I could be wrong though if things changed, as they do on me all the time

I think JG is referring to me and my past sales (which I've told to him before, since we are both often looking at HPB for Gord the Rogue books)....I very typically sold a seven volume set for $24.99 (If you can get a set for half price you are only paying $14, so $24.99 while it wasn't getting rich it was a small profit).  Plus the sets used to sit for weeks and weeks at the $25 mark. However, lately I've sold my last two sets in my Ebay store for $42 and $48 respectively, so the price has been rising on these.

(And, yes, I was thinking of Badmike's sets in particular.)

I'll have to keep my eye out for them. I never had a problem getting $10 each for the New Infinities books.
