Oh...well...lowering the cost nullifies all bets. I doubt now that you will turn out to be a horse's patoot.

I have checked out her site several times and I have always been very impressed. The one she did of Radagast the Brown has been my personal favorite until I saw the Goldberry. That is some stunning detail!!!

I've no doubt that there are some good miniatures being painted out there. Most of them do not seem to be better than I could do myself.

Not saying that the elf horseman isn't great, or that other professional painters aren't really good....just that some of the "great" paintjobs out there are not as good as I could do.

One example would be the crappy miniatures used for the Lord of the Rings movies. What a place to save money! They had great costumes and sets, and they had pretty good acting and directing...but apparently they bought their miniatures people at Goodwill...or whatever equivalent is available in New Zealand.

All through the films...particularly at Isengard and at Osgiliath...I wanted to say to the miniatures painters: "Hey, let me have a brush. This is called 'dry brushing' and it works in colors other than gray! You should probably learn some basic techniques...and how to use colors other than gray. For instance...here is how to use brown and blue to enhance all that gray you have there...lets also try some green..."

I can't imagine that there is a market for my old Warhammer 40K miniatures. And, as if I could bring myself to sell off the famous old regiments in my lead and pewter forces! :lol:

Is it possible that the seller just doesn't know what great condition means? I mean, if they were trying to be tricky, wouldn't they have used more tricky pictures to conceal the real condition?

Well, to be fair, the seller is also offering quite a few hardbacked books and a few other items â€” although the listing is so poorly written that that information is difficult to pick out.

That's not to say that the listing doesn't deserve a place on this thread, though â€” it most assuredly does. His odds on getting a legitimate bid are long-ish, to say the least.

Well I would hope that when it gets relisted the reserver is set at $300 or $295. If they aren't going to do that they may want to wait a few months and let the perceived value of the buying community catch up with their perceived value.

As one of the bidders on the first run through I had two reservations about rebidding on this auction.

First, (and most importantly) as a lot you are expecting some discount: it seems that the seller has set the reserve so high that there is not a great deal (or any) saving to be made) over buying the items singly,

Second, while it is great to have a selection of supplments which might fill the holes in a collection, in the meantime numerous single supplements appear every week on ebay. The gaps in the collection can be filled selectively, often at a lower price.

Maybe it has more value to the reseller who may choose to keep a particular item as being in better conditon than the one presently owned
