That's the thing about shrinkwrap...it isn't magical. Also, I have seen a number of boxes like that....and I suspect that the reason it is still in shrinkwrap is because it was flattened and consequently did not sell.

1982 TSR Games Trade Catalog

$9.99 starting bid or $12.50 BIN. (Had been sitting in the sellers shop for many weeks with a $20 BIN)

Seems very similar to the extremely common 1981 Gateway to Adventure Catalog, but may be scarcer (I don't recall seeing another). The price still seems high but it might be worth it someone.

These are quite common. Your 1988 Mail Order Hobby Shop is much rarer.

1982 TSR Games Trade Catalog

Pushes World of Greyhawk in folio form, not boxed (yet)... and also first time the RPGA was mentioned in a trade catalog, and the first appearance of the minigames, Fiend Folio, and DDG (with Cthulhu). (But with that wretched Morley the Wizard creation of Dave Dimery's on the cover.)

Really? I used to get a new one of those 1988 catalogs whenever I'd order something from TSR. I think I had five of them at one point and several of the 1989 ones (with more Ewoks). I'm sure a lot were produced, though I assume most were thrown out. Whereas the 1981 Gateway catalog seems to show up in a lot of Basic Set boxes. I've seen tons of those 1981 catalogs (3 show up right now under "TSR catalog") - just not the 1982 one. But maybe I just never noticed it. I search "TSR catalog" every so often. *shrug*

Acaeum needs a catalog subweb.

Thanks, but I've been selling them off, not acquiring them (Though I plan to keep one of the 1988 catalogs plus a 1986 and a 1981). Plus it needs to be someone who has catalogs for a variety of gaming companies, not just TSR. I don't think there'd be enough traffic for a "TSR catalog" subweb. Maybe just a new page in the regular Acaeum, though.

well shane and ian are getting quite thorough with non-tsr stuff.

shane prb knows how many breaths a month were taken at the judges guild offices back in the 70s/80s by now so thats a good place for you to go start asking questions

i have a judges guild catalog from 1978 if that helps...

Think I have 4 more printings/products to post up..so I may just have to examine some things in my spread sheet and see just where possible holes may lie.

A battered possible 1st print DMG and 1st-3rd MM in this lot. The photo is rather grainy, but it appears that the peak of the logo wizard's hat is below the Gary Gygax line.
