He's feedback boosting.

<edit> Well that and trying to further push down the negs he receives from sellers from whom he steals from.

This is one feature of Ebay I don't get.

How can Ebay allow members to see what another member is bidding on?

Doesn't sound right to me.  The information is out there...but Ebay should not help people spy on each other.

I suppose one person's "spying" is another person's "transparency" — and I'm totally on board with eBay's transparency. Sellers' items are public; buyers' bids are public; feedback is public; user ID history is public; bid history for any item is public, bid retractions are public, and on and on and on ... hell, as long as my credit card number is never revealed, I don't really care if all of my sales and bids are offered to all eBay users as an optional RSS feed (although, granted, my lists would bore most people to tears :)).

And, really, isn't a list of a certain user's bids just an easy-to-read version of what is already public knowledge? Think about it: the same information is already out there, it's just scattered around onto different item pages.

+++++

Sidebar: I'm not sure if this theme will continue, but, if it does, prepare for the infamous Lament of the Uber Collector ("Woe is me; everyone has bookmarked my bidding list"). Ugh. Maybe I shouldn't have brought it up ...

There needs to be an unwritten rule about posting these "Deities & Demigods w/ Cthulhu & Melnibone."

It's pointless because it really helps no one.

I let this go last night for two reasons: Low feedback seller and bidder. And because I was too lazy to contact buyer and ask about pick up and payment in person: I live about an hour from Lansing.

Anyway, someone got a good deal.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Wonder if the extras will have any effect on the value assigned to the 3rd print.

I thought someone here would have gone for that one?

Nope.  Typically, we don't include auctions in the valuations if they have significant 'extras'.  It's too difficult to tell which component holds the value, or to assign percentages to items.  (A 1st print woodgrain and a B2 wouldn't be an issue, but beyond that it's a slippery slope.)

Erm, OK...

The woodgrain box is not much better than John's $225 effort and the bookset about level, too (key M&M has a discolored spine from taping which I guess means it split very badly, as is to be expected for a 3rd print).

Of the supplements, I'd put the 1st GH in an isolation ward well away from any friends who I might otherwise have showed it to. Most of the books are discolored/blotched on the title pages, too, but have other hidden faults. Well used is good to see; but only up to a point, perhaps.

If the BLK & EW (only minimal ink annotation stated) are first prints as might be expected, those are probably worth having.

Being optimistic (my snipe would've been around $300, all-in), and likewise on the printings:

325: 3rd OD&D

40: 1st GH

40: 1st BLK

35: 1st EW

10: 1st GDH

20: 1st S&S

Would be interested as to where anyone attributed extra "value". Straight to the woodie, I presume?

Just my $.02 from the Random thoughts thread:

Personally, I don't think that would have paid even half for that stuff even with the T1st Greyhawk.  It just seems to me that all the items in that lot were actually gross. :?   I don't mind things having some damage and what not, especially considering it being a Woodgrain set, but the staining on all the books was a big turn off for me.

I agree that went for way too much. :?

Apart from the fact that no one actually cares a damn about Al-Qadim.

Uhm, no one except me, by the stuff I have.
