The seller has pretty atrocious feedback, but worst of all he embeds a video (with sound) in each of his auctions. *shudder*

Okay, now that these listings have ended, I can officially say that the embedded audio these idiots use is without a doubt the most annoying thing I've ever seen on eBay. Especially when it's not working and potential buyers get stuck with error messages. :!:

Not that I expect iSoldIt people to be geniuses, but, seriously, they need to pull their heads out. The idea is to attract buyers, not make their ears bleed.

On a more civil note, I still wonder where they got four shrinkwrapped TSR Anniversary sets from ... failed game store is the only answer that immediately comes to mind.

Heh, you and Frank both won 2. I hope you both checked the shipping costs on those sets before bidding. Shipping to me was coming up over $20.00.

And the shipping is absurd. I believe I'm looking at $16.50 â€” and for Frank, there is no combined shipping. I've always felt that was a total joke; I mean, what exactly is stopping them from combining the items?

Considering that even if they don't want to combine shipping costs, its not like they couldn't just slap one each in a Flat Rate box for a whopping total of $8.10 each, is what makes it even worse. Hmm, nothing quite like raping your customers for a good $10-$12 for your handling fee. :roll:

I was interested in at least one or two of those sets and that ridiculous handling fee alone is what tempered my bidding to the level of what it was.

I don't blame you at all. I'm looking at $109 out the door, which is just way too high. But this will be my "keeper" set*, so I decided to put in a strong snipe.

Well lessee...

I got 3 for $92.68 each including shipping, all in the shrink.
An L3 recently went for $86.
The Story of TSR thingie is often sought (don't have ave. prices yet tho).
Shrink'd versions are going up fast 'cause some sellers are breaking them into parts for resale.
I'm in the habit of sitting on stuff until it's appreciated. ;> and...
(Prediction) The 25A logo G1G2G3 series will soon start appearing as a set and will do well.

So I turned off the speakers (annoying infomercials) and bit the bullet on their exorbitant shipping (and will rarely if ever buy from the chain because of it).

So for now, I'm fine.

We'll see what shows up in the mail from ISoldIt of Kent, WA. Two of 'em will be for sale, maybe at GenCon. And who knows, maybe they went the easy route on the photos and one of 'em will have a little sticker at bottom front right that nobody at the store cared to notice... or maybe I can get Jeff to autograph one or two prints just for me; I useta be the music director at his church.

Freaking Comcast!!! About an hour before those auctions espired my internet service went down (Comcast). That is our regional cable internet service. You know, the one that runs commercials saying "ditch the dish" because supposedly my sat. tv service always blacks out due to crazy weather and other crap. Well, let me say it always the exact opposite. I have never lost my sat. feed for more than three minutes in five damn years. But Mr. Comcast goes down for hours at a time.

Anyway, I had those on watch and was prepared to snipe at around $90 each, and possible progressively higher as demand would grow as they sold. But no. F*****g cable company screwed me.

And you guys certainly did not overpay. I firmly believe those sets willl double in price over the next one to two years (at most). There have been rash of them of late, but that will fade. Then the price will skyrocket.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I picked my 3 up at a very successful book store in my area ( Scholar's , E.Bridgewater Mass ). 2 were stickered ones ( one I opened one still sealed ) and the other is the regular version. When I picked up the last one a few months back, ( at like 20% - 30% off IIRC

), the owner was actually happy as he said those 3 were the only ones he bought and there was never any interest in them as he felt they were way to expensive..... keeping them up high on the shelf ( like 8ft up ) probably didn't help either :roll:

First let me say I am not speaking about Mr. Mentzer directly when I say this. I am making a general comment but I thought of it when I saw your question about what hadn't he done.....

I have noticed that people who are succesful in their endeavors have often done many different things and in most cases been really unsuccesful in many of those things. To find your calling I guess you have to answer any number of false or not so great callings first. To take a line from one of my favorite movies "greatness courts faliure". All too often and I fall into this...we take the safe and sure route and though comfortable are most often not memorable or wildly succesful.

And speaking to Mr. Mentzer I doubt there is a person in the gaming industry, and many other fields I would guess, who does not know you. You sir are very memorable! It has always been informative and interesting when I have had a chance to speak with you at auctions.

Yeah, there is a reason that so many of these things are still in the shrink. And that so many have popped up over the last couple years. Simply, it was overpriced for what you get. Most people who would want that set, already have those modules (except L3). They are all easily available and for the most part extremely common. The blue book holds little fascination to most people. So what you have left is a bare bones history of TSR book and L3. Your average purchaser just is not going to spring $50 for that. At lease not when it came out. Collectors are different. They have to have it.

I have to believe the product was a marketing failure. Way too many sat around for years on store shelves. That is good for collectors in the short term, but at some point the tide will turn and the prices will increase.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
