Kansas is world zone 1

*rofl*. I know KS is large, but I didn't realise it was that large! :)

4 days to go.

Thx.

Good grief, that went cheap.... :?

I dont think it went that cheap.  The corners in the picture are clearly dinged and it has several? pages removed from the staples. Cover makes it look like a noce copy but the sellers description, albeit honest seems to relay some "issues".

I'd still say that's a very nice copy. Could hardly have asked you to put a snipe on it for me, though. ;)

Pages pulling away from staples is standard fare for all Lake Geneva prints; barely a fault.
Seriously hadn't expected to see much less than $200 at the end.

Yup, it looked a bit shagged.
Still, I would have bid if not preoccupied...

Wouldn't be the first time you've bid on a 'US Only' auction, heh?

I think you two are being overly expectant of pristine 1st GHs whilst tolerant of stomped on woodgrains (which are more common by a factor of 6-1 or thereabouts).
Does not compute, IMHO! ;)

Heh. If you wanted 'shagged' (or should that be 'used as intended'?);

(Well, that might still make a 'Good' on Brian's scale... :D *runs away*)

aww... sorry! ;)

I doubt you'd want to sell it, anyhow, so let's just say 'ungraded'. :)

Just got back from a few days away.  A big thanks to Mike for a UK proxy bid. :D Hope this turns out better than that MM he bid on for me.

Invisible to mortal eyes
Invincible, the star that would not die

What a beautiful book.  I love these grizzled veterans of the Psychic Wars.  I wonder why it has extra, reverse staples in the spine?  Surely, a great warrior of old.

*yay*. Thanks, Mark! :)

Well, like I said those Lake Geneva printings tend to have their middle pages falling out by default (hence that comment re. no great fault (IMO) for the recent 1st GH, above).

As to the latter, alas Jim Ward didn't add quite as much as I'd've liked to have seen by way of annotation. :(
But you can feel that it was right in there, in the thick of the action. :D

That was James Ward's book.  Nice.

I have met the man.  I suspect he used it to game.

   Interesting stories he has:

He told me that he first met Gary Gygax in a bookstore when he noticed this other guy who was buying all the same books as he was.

I think pristine books are overrated.  Probably the saddest line on Ebay reads:  "Never read."

We can get Jim to come to the Lake Geneva convention, and I'm sure he'll scribble all you want.

Oh, so very, very tempting, Frank! :D

Cheap, later S&S in nice condition

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8797428423

$5 (+ only $2 postage) with 15 hours to go

Later GH, BLK and a potentially interesting Eldritch, again in nice condition

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8796334727

$34 with 23 hours to go

(Remember, it's easier to ask how many staples there are visible in the centre of the book ;))

SW paradise (or hell?)

eBay listings

15+ hours to go and some prices still very reasonable (even for non-SW phps!)

I did not recognize the bidder. Is the current bidder a Forum member? I have tried to make sure and not post items where the current high bidder is a Forum member.
