Just FYI, that is that seller's third auction (at least) of one of those. I think they are using the same picture in each auction. First ended ~$11, second ~15. Bbarsh says they are common and ~16-20 pages (need to confirm).

Checked today. That book is a preregistration book. It is 12 pages total. It is NOT the event program book. This particular  book was widely distributed - they shipped with Ares magazine, for example.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Aha. I was wondering how they were distributed. Thanks for the information!

I'm sure that's just a page ripped out of a comic book, or the back cover ripped off a comic book. Look at the size of the ad (~6x9 inches) and the sellers' other auctions. It's a common Ebay scam: Buy comic books or magazines for pennies, rip out the vintage ad & then re-sell them for 100x-1000x the price.

That said, it is a cool ad. If we could create a database of issues of comic books, magazines, etc with particular ads, we could cut down on some of these auctions. Notice, the sellers never mention which issue they are taken from.

I am pretty sure you are on the right track. Seller has another "ad" that I know came from comic books. I clearly remember the ad - the art is terrible.

I own an Intellivision and I have BOTH of the cartridges that were (at the time) called "Dungeons and Dragons", and that photo reminds me of an advertisement out of a magazine or even a Mattel/Intellivision catalog for that particular year that "Treasure of Tarmin" came out.
I did email the seller, the reply was that he "got it out of a comic book in the '80's".  Zhower was right!

(BTW--I also have the collections of Intellivision games for PC and for PS2; the games are on a collection called "Intellivision Lives!", but because of legal reasons--I am guessing it is with W.O.T.C. :?: --the name "Dungeons and Dragons" was taken off the listing for both games.   When the collection's version of the games are played, there is no "Dungeons and Dragons" on either if their title screens, unlike the original cartridges.)

Sorry folks, but this auction is being shilled and should be taken down very shortly because I just reported it.  See the Shady dealers thread for details.
