Well it doesn't seem to have taken any of the luster off of our Super Bowl win at all actually.

If I ever sell anything on Ebay, this will be in my first auction description:

"I dont know anything about this item but a homeless guy down at the 7-11 said it was really old and worth a fortune and I believe everything he says because he has a gold tooth and has a French accent.  The winner will also receive as a bonus a box of instant butterscotch pudding.  It is dated 1976 so it must be worth a lot too."

Jeez I am bored.

Most of the modules pictured in this catalog have different artwork than what was actually used.

That sound VERY intriguing:  WotC later published a G1-5 Against the Giants, which sounds like a retread of this original idea.  Time to go ask Gary another question :D

Let's see now . . . OK, if the description is right on the condition of the books, I guess I can see $600.00 for all three (althought I can only imagine if the books had been signed by Gygax and/or Arneson what they would be worth! 8O ).

BUT:

Is it just me, or does this set off all sorts of red alerts & BS detectors?

$600 for that printing, in any condition short of gold-plated, is ridiculous.  You could probably score two sets in top condition for that amount, with a little luck.

The supplements aren't early printings, either.  The Greyhawk is a 7th/8th printing, and the Blackmoor is a 4th.  As you mentioned, the auction particulars are pretty shady.

2 available makes me think Kinko's.

Kinko's  :?:   :?:

High price, for sure, but considering other Troll and Toad products...

...2 k$ for a Magic card, even a black lotus

... 16 k$ in a Beta Booster Box   8O

People who collect Magic Cards are maybe crazier than us... Sorry if some of you are both Magic and RPG collectors, really

And it looks like Black Lotus are very common in Troll and Toad's garden.

Bunch of Lotus

Troll e-mailed ma and said he had 3. Sold one a while back. He claims he got them from the people who made it.
Wasn't there some broad a while back who had 3 of them? Or was that Fazzle?

Both, actually.  I noticed that the claims these came directly from the maker were absent on this round of auctions.

Well, I'd be checking for copier toner on them if I got one.
The problem is this: If you get one and it is a forgery, what do you do? It would be difficult to deal with a court case, since they could claim they "got them from the maker".

In theory you could subpoena their record of the purchase.  You could also subpoena "the maker".  I can't see either of those being worthwhile over a couple of thousand dollars.
