TSR Mail Order Hobby Shop 1986 Catalog.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1986-The-TSR-Mail-O ... dZViewItem

I have a copy of this...this is one that lists WG7 as Shadowlords. (There are no pictures in this except the cover which is by Jeff Easley)

WG7 Shadowlords.  From the Summer 1986 Mail Order Hobby Shop catalog:  "A high-level module set in the World of Greyhawk.  Journey to the perilous Plane of Shadow to rescue Princess Esterilla and confront the master of the plane... where you find yourself an unexpected guest at a wedding where the guests include a lizardman, a catlord, and a mistress of illusion!".  Assigned TSR stock # 9184.

http://www.acaeum.com/library/research.html

My copy matches this text exactly, except that World of Greyhawk is "WORLD OF GREYHAWK Fantasy World Setting" and the end of the listing says "Available December 1986" and the price is listed as $10.00

This is the Mail Order Hobby Shop Catalog.  TSR also has their 1986 full line colour catalog with pictures.  I haven't checked the Mail Order catalog but if you have yours handy does it have entries for Unearthed Arcana II and G1-4 Revolt of the Giants?  I suspect that the colour catalog was put out first and that these may not be in the Mail Order catalog.

Correct, it's the Mail Order Hobby Shop catalog (I just edited my post above to clarify this). 46 pages with 34 pages that are lists of TSR products & other RPG/board games/miniatures for sale through the Hobby Shop (all have prices listed & there are several order forms in the back). No pictures at all (not even black and white) except the cover, which is by Jeff Easley.

I haven't heard of those before and I just checked my copy and I don't seem the listed. I see G1-3 Against the Giants, but no G1-4 or UAII.

Does the color catalog have pre-production photos of these products or WG7 Shadowlords? The Acaeum WG7 research page also says:
We'd be interested in getting a scan of the pre-production mockup cover for this module, which apparently appeared in one or more of the 1986 - 1987 TSR product catalogs.

Yes, the 1986 catalog has the colour mockups for all 3 of 9184 WG7 Shadowlands, 2020 Unearthed Arcana II, and 9179 G1-4 Revold of the Giants.  I sent an email off to the Acaeum sage to see if they still need a picture.  I don't think these are listed on the complete TSR product list either.

Most of the modules pictured in this catalog have different artwork than what was actually used.

While I am at it, I still need a TSR 1984 Catalog if anyone has one. Anyone? Anyone?  Even just a cover scan would be appreciated.

Wow...I didn't know this. Foul has links to scans for pre-production BX1 and DA5 on the research page; maybe he could include some of the others as well.

Learn something new every other week around here.

Well it doesn't seem to have taken any of the luster off of our Super Bowl win at all actually.

If I ever sell anything on Ebay, this will be in my first auction description:

"I dont know anything about this item but a homeless guy down at the 7-11 said it was really old and worth a fortune and I believe everything he says because he has a gold tooth and has a French accent.  The winner will also receive as a bonus a box of instant butterscotch pudding.  It is dated 1976 so it must be worth a lot too."

Jeez I am bored.

That sound VERY intriguing:  WotC later published a G1-5 Against the Giants, which sounds like a retread of this original idea.  Time to go ask Gary another question :D
