Regarding SW frequency*, it would seem likely that "late" modules such as X12 would stand a higher chance of being in SW than early modules.

First, for the obvious reason that they've had less time to be damaged. Second, perhaps less obvious, because it's they were less likely to be sold. By the end of the X series, 1990?, people were abandoning the game in large numbers. Unsold SW mods were everywhere in the early nineties, and I wish I had bought them all up, I'd be rich now. Modules actually sold to active players tend to get ripped open and used.

Furthermore, you're more likely to see a SW module for sale than a PR one if the module is common enough. Nobody likes trashed modules, not even me. Low quality common modules often get thrown out before they make it to eBay.

Finally, people reshrink stuff. It happens a lot. Sometimes they have a clue and mention it's not original shrink, sometimes they don't. :wink:

The best kind of module shrink is found wadded up in a trashcan.

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

I was just tapping on a crunchy piece of shrinkwrap....

   Over the weekend I was in Portland and I bought a few old game items at a store.

   The largest purchase was $15 for The New Easy to Master Dungeons and Dragons Game, which comes in a 12" x 17" x 2" black box. The date says copyright 1991. (Inside is apparently a game board labeled "Zanzer's Dungeon" and lots of cardboard tent miniatures with pictures of characters and monsters.) It looks like a game to introduce D&D.

   The box inside the shrinkwrap seems to be worn by the shrinkwrap itself. The shrink is very tight and feels quite tough...tight enough to slightly warp the box inside. The whole thing looks like it has been on a store shelf for years.

   What do you think? Is the shrinkwrap likely original? Did I get a good deal?

Looks original to me. Seems to have the same that mine has.

I think it's original. This is rather enforced by the fact that SW X12 are fairly common, despite what can be read in the Acaeum list. I have seen at least 6 or 7 (and caught one) since the beginning of 2006. Much more common than other modules, at least.

What a ... uh ... strange lot.

Just to be clear, five of the eight additional items listed are part of the Fantasy Trip line (and by no means are any of them "super rare," as the seller claims). Ice War, Olympica, and Sticks & Stones are standalone games.

Any interested parties should also get a clarification on whether the microgames are punched or not, as this can greatly affect their value. For example, Sticks & Stones in unpunched condition often goes for north of $25.
