I would guess only because TCT posted it in the classifieds earlier this week in reference to the Jeff Perren auctions so maybe most already saw em.

I didn't mention those two auctions because there were Acaeum members already listed as bidders.

No longer highest bidder.

I don't get this "don't post auctions" lark, btw.

IIRC there was a vote held and a considerable majority were of the opinion that it was OK to post any auction, any time. And, anyhow, the person who set up that poll continues to throw in low/minimum bids on many auctions in the hope that no-one will call them here and they'll pick up the items on the cheap.

Like I said, seriously don't get people trying to play the game both ways. :)

Anyhow; would be just as easy to make a post with permalinks to current bids by likely "interested parties", since a good number of people will doing that, too; even if that's not flagged constantly in front of the whole board.

No-win situation?

Yep - can't have your cake and eat it to..

I just post Judges Guild stuff when I see it (occasionally something unique in other places) that I think others maybe interested in.

That would be useful! I just figured out the other day how to do this in ebay, after years of hearing people here mention watching other people's bid history. Actually, maybe I'll just make my own personal page with a bunch of tagged lists....

Could get embarrassing if people start bidding on "odd" items...

How many people have created duplicate accounts to avoid notice when there's a rare item? I guess you can just as easily set a snipe.

Actually it is still is, just a different one.

I still think that some courtesy should be shown to fellow members, especially if you are not planning on bidding on the item.  :) Now if you are planning on bidding on the item and are inviting more competion opn the bid then more power to you. :)

Don't blame that mess on Marlith, that actually was a result of my own doing. I was them one who started that shitstorm due to having a bad day. Marlith's poll was just a result of me being a jack-ass.

There's another mystery of Ebay.....

Who thought it would be a good idea to allow everyone else to monitor an Ebay member's bids?

I realize that Ebay is a public place, but allowing someone to follow a bidder around seems like...well...uncool.

How do you do that, by the way?

Personally, I'd be happiest if this thread didn't exist, because I don't really need it.  Searching is not all that difficult (especially with automated tools like AuctionSieve), but posting on here just because something is "going cheap" is like doing your homework and handing it out to the entire class to copy.  Heaven forbid, someone might actually get a deal, occasionally...if the whole class is sleeping, and that's a pretty big "if", anyway.

I do post the occasional item for comment, if I happen think it is interesting.  I'm not about to define "interesting", as you might disagree.  I thought the pogs were interesting, and I didn't even note the price.  Maybe someone out there was thinking "damn him, I was gonna snipe them."  Who knows.

(Oh, MShipley88...go to Advanced Search (top right)...and search by bidder.)
