Nah. You want the original with the velcro box fastener, in shrink.

Maybe I should put one up...

You aint kidding  :D

For those that don't know, I loved the original UM boxed set.  Once ran a campaign using just that, Volo's Guide to Waterdeep and FR1 Waterdeep and the North that lasted about 3 years.
However, others of us (VF one of the most vocal) objected to the fact that the UM boxed set was only about one-fourth completed....lots of empty room in the three levels mapped out.
Well, I took it upon myself to FILL IN all the empty spaces.  Probably 10 large encounter areas including a kobold kingdom, multiple-vampire lair, and temple to Mask (god of thieves in the Forgotten Realms) and probably 50 or more minor areas.  Also made up much expanded encounter/wandering monster tables for each level (1-50 for each, I think I expanded the third level for 1-100 random encounters).  Also did a LOT of NPCs that could be met in the Yawning Portal for potential companions...probably about 50 or so with 10-15 very fleshed out.
Part of all the work was at the time I was running multiple parties/players through UM at the same time, sometimes at cross purposes.  When it was time to game, whoever was at the table got to adventure and if there were only 1 or 2 players some weeks I had to have multiple NPCs to fill in the holes.  Some became heros in their own rights (Latour the Fighter; big, dumb, ugly and loyal as a hound dog was the most beloved NPC ever, because no matter which PCs he adventured with he NEVER left anyone behind alive or dead and never quit on an adventure), some became backstabbing scumbags, some added their bones to the mounds already under UM (Still feel bad for the poor NPC priest who was teleported nude to the Blue Dragon lair, yet managed to escape...probably still on the 3rd level somewhere eating raw fish and bugs waiting to be rescued...).  I wanted to fill out all the empty spaces because with so many PCs/parties of adventurers going down they were bound to keep heading for the parts of the dungeon NOT in the pre-gen encounter areas.  The expanded encounter tables were to add a bit of the unknown and danger to the procedings, as they were NOT vetted for difficulty.  One of the greatest battles ever was a 1-3 lvl party who had the misfortune to roll a Bleeder (a nasty type of Beholder) within the first few turns of entering UM; that they managed to defeat and slay the thing was a beautiful combo of teamwork, luck, and having just the right combination of spells...and of course having Latour who refused to retreat even as half the party fell to the Bleeder; he shamed the cowards into staying until the bitter end, no matter what the cost. (Yeh I loved Latour and still do to this day!).  All in all roughly 20 gamers with multiple characters went into my version of UM, so I had to have LOTS of extra stuff to keep them all busy.
Anyway, these notes, characters, adventures, encounters, lists, etc filled out one gigantic spiral notebook and several folders.  One day if I ever get a wild hair, I'm going to collate them, type them up, and photocopy the hundreds of pages and sell them as "The COMPLETE Undermountain", and VF is going to run out and buy a copy!!!!
   God I loved my Undermountain....

Put me down for a copy - I love the realms and Undermountain/Waterdeep in particular but when you get that UM box set and fold out the maps......!!!!!!  I'd like to bet that most DM's made it up on the spot because the sheer size is so daunting (But perhaps that was the point) - Long live Halaster (and Badmike :D )

*drool*

I had one of those once upon a time.

I saw the new Steve Jackson Games version today at the San Diego Comicon for $20. Wicked small box, which makes me wonder at the quality of the playing board (just folded paper?).

I would guess only because TCT posted it in the classifieds earlier this week in reference to the Jeff Perren auctions so maybe most already saw em.

I didn't mention those two auctions because there were Acaeum members already listed as bidders.

No longer highest bidder.

I don't get this "don't post auctions" lark, btw.

IIRC there was a vote held and a considerable majority were of the opinion that it was OK to post any auction, any time. And, anyhow, the person who set up that poll continues to throw in low/minimum bids on many auctions in the hope that no-one will call them here and they'll pick up the items on the cheap.

Like I said, seriously don't get people trying to play the game both ways. :)

Anyhow; would be just as easy to make a post with permalinks to current bids by likely "interested parties", since a good number of people will doing that, too; even if that's not flagged constantly in front of the whole board.

No-win situation?
