To kick things off, I've e-mailed the seller of the woodgrain set and asked him to change/remove the text he stole, and to remove the scan.  I'll report him this weekend if he hasn't complied.

BIG warning light on this one, folks.  He's way too casual about the item he has.  "Small stain on one of the books" being the only fault?  Feedback rating of five, with or without any negatives?  Username "lame records"?  Uh.  I think most of us can see this one coming from a ways down the road.

Dang it, FoulFoot!  I actually went all the way to page 42 looking for the answer!

I did not scroll down to the bottom of your post until I had determined that the discussion on page 42 is indecipherable and all of the Ebay links are dead.

RRRR!

That's because you don't know that 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Even Google knows that:

Well, I haven't noticed any changes to the auction description, nor any pulled bids as of yet.

Has anyone heard anything directly from the seller?  I've tried contacting him both through ebay and through the email address given in the auction, but haven't heard a thing in response.

Me neither.

Me neither.

Nor I.  I think if he actually had the goods, he'd be jumping to supply pictures and respond to questions.  He's probably wondering what to do.

I more-or-less challenged the guy to provide either an original photo or an accurate description. I've heard not a word.

The item does not exist — or, at the very least, it's not anywhere near the edition or condition claimed. My guess: this guy needs some cash in the very near future, and figures an eBay/PayPal scam is a pretty easy method.

Bidders on this work of fiction could save themselves a lot of time and anxiety by just setting fire to their money.

The real question is, "How many people are still going to take a shot at it anyway".   I will be very surprised if it stays below $2k, despite the obvious shady factors invloved.

I have one up for auction right now that has the pre-rolled characters and handouts missing, actually photocopied.  I bought it in a lot and was told it was complete, hoping to replace my beat up copy, it was worse.  :(

I have no doubts the woody auction is a fake. I think I said that days ago. Whether it is or not, I personally don't think it's worth even $5 to find out.

At Dundracon a few weekends ago I got Egg of Phoenix in complete condition for $18. I was happy!

Either someone's going to get burnt on the woody, or someone's going to e very happy 'cause everyone else stayed away.

Who's got their favourite percentiles out and is goin' to gamble on the roll?

What percentage would the rest of us put on the outcome that it's a fake?

Given no communication from the seller I'd go 98-00 it's legit.
